The Ashes Are Ours Again!!!
Australia 3 - 0 England

Go the Aussies.

Can't see anything except a series whitewash 5-0 from here.

We sucked.

Feel a bit sorry for Ian Bell being nominated for Sports Personality of the Year while we're getting thrashed down-under.

Unsurprisingly, he finished last.

Aussies deserved it. (that hurt to say that!)
Aussies certainly showed that they could toss better than the English! :)

Too many ashes tests in a short space of time kind of took the shine off England winning three in a row though... 18 months to go until the next one. Hopefully be some fresh talent in both sides then...

In the meantime, enjoy that little urn. We will want it back!

The ashes do seem to be every 12 weeks or so now, which is confusing. Don't rmember as many when i was a lad.

This one was a thrashing, whatever happens from here. Which may be nice to crow about for the convicts, but isn't very entertaining.
Posted by Tomay on 2013-12-17 12:18:12
Nothing more entertaining than watching Mitchell Johnson tear apart the poms with vicious pace bowling, they're scared of him.

Glad we had this series straight after the debacle over there though, it was very depressing.

too frequent at the moment, and lets be honest how long was it since the aussies last won? ;) we will be back!

Huzzah! Well done to the fellas!

Well as an AVID ENGLISH cricket fan I am very disapointed. I agree that 5-0 does not look too unlikely tbh. There is losing and then there is losing AND looking shambolic. Sadly the latter is the case. There is nothing that makes a supporter think "ah well maybe on another day..."

I am not one that goes from one extreme to the other and can usaully see where England have been bad and when they have just been outclassed by a better side which is forgivable.

For example when England got beaten 5-0 a few years back the Aussies were a proper world class side and many teams would have struggled to take even a draw off that side.

This Aussie side are average. I dont mean that in a negative sense but they have 3 good consistant performers and 1 top class one (Harris, Haddin, Siddle and then Clarke respectively). They have repeated their trick in summer of starting poorly in frst innings a few times but the lower order has got them back in the game. England have then batted abjectly and that has then allowed the Aussies to come out flinging the bat in the second innings.

The real difference is that the England top 6 all who all average from 42-50 coming into the series have not done them selves any justice. The Aussie bowlers have been excellent and all credit to them. The English batsmen though should be making at least 300 on the wickets that we have been playing on....but sadly they have failed even that.

One commentator did raise the question if that after a long period of sucess maybe some of the players just were burnt out and dont want it enough (e.g. the touring and team camps etc). The worry is though that too many player will all reach the end together and that makes blooding youngsters very difficult as they might not have the benefit of doing so sheltered in a good team which is winning.

P.S. Wotfud - The reason for the two series being so close is that the International Calender is being redrawn due to world cups or something, so both Aussies and ECB agreed to alter the schedule this year so that future years keep in sync and are less likley to be disrupted

Jesus, totally missed that game. glad i got the results this way. Grats, to the aussies, but damn, 0:3 for england, thats a harsh one for our uk boys & girls, and it was not to be expected.

Guess one has to keep his fingers crossed from now on if he still wants to see england further in the tourney getting kicked out by germany...sheesh.

also, as a neutral, that WACA pitch was hilariously awful.

:)

The English cricket team believing their own hype and being complacent, and we get taken apart by fired up Aussies. Just like Rocky III, Balboa lost the title to Lang because he didn't have the 'Eye Of The Tiger' :)

If there's a better analogy out there than that I'm all ears ;)

who gives fuck ? aussies still shit at sport these days its just England managed to be worse this time lol :-)
Posted by Cavetroll on 2013-12-17 20:03:16
Cricket isn't a real sport, anyway.
Posted by Tomay on 2013-12-17 21:23:50
I think the Aussie cricket team really turned the corner when they got rid of that bloody south african coach and appointed good old Boof Lehman. I might have got my expectations a little too high, but I think we can achieve a top 2 test ranking in the next few years.

I love the WACA and to be honest there should be more pitches that are unique like it around the world. It did crack up like a sub continental pitch though this time around with the constant run of 40 degrees Celsius days, remember we have no ozone layer here so the sun really bites.
Posted by nufflehatesme on 2013-12-18 00:16:25
I thought the pitch was a ripper. 5 day game. 4 hundreds across the teams. ball could kill someone if it hit the cracks right.
good times

Someones bitter ;)
Posted by Russo on 2013-12-18 10:50:04
To be fair its a result pitch and that's what I like to see. Too many flat pitches in the world today that mean both sides rack up 900 runs and no result. There is nothing wrong with a draw if it is one that the sides fought for, not because they ran out of time for batting practice!!
Posted by Tomay on 2013-12-18 11:21:38
I agree Russo.

We see batsmen have such an advantage in the limited forms of the game and it seems to have carried over to test match cricket. I love to see a pitch that gives the bowlers something to work with.
Posted by Russo on 2013-12-18 15:21:39
See there is a good example of an Aussie and a Yorkshire man talking sense and agreeing lol

Well here's to much tighter test matches over the Christmas period.

Have a good Christmas and New Year :-)
