Fantasy Rugby League: Closeing.

Public Announcment:

Closing doors due to lack of any real interest.

FRL is recruiting coaches interested in training, competing and taking a team to fame, glory and riches in this one of a kind Fantasy Rugby League!

About FRL:

FRL utilizes a custom ruleset designed to create a more definate rugby experiance which you can see here; or alternatively you can read on the group page.

Teams:

Teams have a fairly strict creation/development model, its advised you read through that section of the group page carfully before creating a team. Any team that doesnt fit the league will not be accepted.

Because we use custom rules you'll need to create teams using our group FRL Team creation link, which is available on group page but here for completness.

Season I: Kick-Off & Beyond!

FRL teams will be hitting the green firstly in training (builder games), from there teams will each be allowed a maximum of 2 friendly pre-season games. The season will kick off once we have enough trained teams ready to compete.

The nature of the FRL competitions will depend heavily on the number of competeing teams available.

Interested Coaches

If you are one of those.. familiarize yourself with the group rules, Team Creation and Development model, make your team (using link provided above), apply your team to the FRL teams section of group page, and finally.. PM me (deyempe), then we'll arrange training games for your team!

Hope to see YOU on the pitch soon!

Interesting, are those custom SPP points/skills working? Also you can alter the amount of players on the pitch already I believe, right?
Posted by deyempe on 2016-04-21 19:20:56
Yes, custom SPP limits are working correctly. Yes, changing the ammount of players to be fielded is also functional :D

Just an idea Deyempe, but if you make the base race Pact instead of humans you could make them take dump-off and NoS much earlier to get the rugby feel.
Posted by deyempe on 2016-04-22 00:28:20
This is true mister__joshua!.. however teams would then be limited to 12 men.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2016-04-22 01:47:27
Do they have to play 1 game first, before they can add the skills?
Posted by mister__joshua on 2016-04-22 10:17:03
Ah, true. Never thought of that. I also missed the bit where it was 13-a-side. I guess you could allow the Elf and rat as halfbacks or fullbacks. The Big Guys could be props or locks (take Stand Firm/Guard; Not so good at dumping off). I just thought it'd help you get into the league better. After the first match ALL linemen could have Dump-off and NoS, which would be ace.

Are you only allowed to pass backwards, except when Hail Mary-ing?

@harvestmouse: Yes, 1 game is required before any players skill up using this style of skill progression.

@mister_joshua: Good ideas I admit, but.. there is the Animosity problem in regards to the DE and LR (not a big concern but its there). Also the Big Guys stats aren't anything like any positional on the Four Nations roster.

Otherwise the Marauders of the Pact would be the perfect unit to use in this league. If/when custom rosters are available we'll use the Four Nations, or develop our own unique roster for this league. The latter being more likely.

By using Humans (for now) we are able to hire 16 men with appropriate stat lines. And by following the Team/Player skill guide model faithfully we're able to create somthing resembling what a Four Nations Roster might become later in development, in this particular enviroment. It isn't a perfect system BUT with the changes to the ammount of players fielded, the max ammounts on LoS and SL's, house rules ect, it's my opinion that we'll get somthing like the experiance we're after. However, in regards to the rule changes this is still in an experimental stage - I haven't play tested them at home or anything yet and we've not had a friendly/competative match on here yet either. So things might change a bit.

Idk why i didnt think of the pass rule mister_joshua.. oblivious to the obvious I guess. I'll include that house rule promtly, thanks for suggesting that mate! :D

Of course, if you wanted to get really extreme you could introduce a 'no-one in front of the ballcarrier' rule, but that could get a little silly :P

Looks like I may have to revert to the drawing board anyway as my only assistant has fled the field in terror! Cant say I blame him really, this is a fair ammount of headwork xD

+6 for trying bro.

I'll continue my efforts but for this to even remotely reflect the game of ruggerz there will need to be a fair ammount of house rules I think - and I doubt many coaches are up for that, i may be wrong tho!

Made some changes, particularirly where it comes to team/player development. Ive marked those in red.
