So we've started using a chess timer when we play the tabletop version. We add 4 minutes to the total time for each player, we start the game, and we don't stop the timer for anything; setting up, recording SPP, etc.
It puts some intense pressure on your game, and you do need to think on your feet if you don't want to be out of time for your last turns. If you run out of time, you only get 2 minutes per turn for the rest of the game.
It might not seem like a big deal, but I find it saves you time, and when you have 3 kids, and your league games run into 3 AM, it comes in handy.
You know what? It's as close as we can come to running a 2 minute drill like the NFL. Pressure pressure!
