Creating Valid Scoring Threats
Today marks the second time in two games in my quest to improve as a coach where I miscalculated how far away my scoring threat was from the endzone. If I was just one space closer, whether through better positioning in prior turns, or with one more GFI, I would've been able to tie in the first game and potentially even win in the second one. I'm excited to continue to learn and grow as a coach, and am going to make sure to pay better attention in the future to my positioning, both in offense and defense. I also need to be careful to make sure I realize who is holding the ball so I calculate for Lineman as opposed to a Catcher.

did you know you can mark the pitch, in the same way you can mark players? i know people who mark on turn 1 how close they actually need to be to score, so that they don't forget when the game gets near the end and is too intense

I do this... not turn 1 as a rule, but a little white x on the square out from the endzone depending on the MA of the ball carrier. Particularly useful when playing with Dwarves as invariably its a slow grinding cage game with an MA6 runner. Also, aim to get one square closer because a good defender will do anything to push you back one square, even by a chain push.

There's also an option to turn off 'pitch markings', which will give you a numeric display of how far each row is from the endzone.

Also as an early player on FUMBBL you may find the 145 open league helpful. There are various newish players on there, and some folks who give advice. It is a bit like ranked but with a smaller pool of opponents that you can arrange games with, and a good place to improve your basics. Good luck.

Yeah the pitch markings are super useful. Though after about a thousand matches you develop an eye for it even without the markings. ;-))
