“The Monks' 50th Match, and who better to report on it that Brother Adam, the teams most experienced player and 49 match veteran.

BrA: "Well, we lined up against Mox Jet - a capable and skilled Delf unit - and were immediately under the cosh, with the elves killing Br Dick in the second turn - luckily, and with the help of Father Medicus' famous "water bottle", he got better. Then those damned heathen elves got passed us and scored to make it 1-0 in turn 3."

"Then we got the ball - and began to do what we do best. We took the ball close, moved up the middle, and played tight ball. Eventually we broke free down the left and got the ball to one of the new runners - Sub Deacon Legs - and he ran it in in turn 7 to level things up. 1-1 at the half."

"Second half - we received, and again decided to keep things tight, going to the right centre and looking to hook up with that damn Ogre who was mired knee-deep in elves on the centre line. Then things got somewhat dicey, and the elves pushed us back, and back, until it looked like they would sack Br Spareus and steal the ball. Then the blitz came and they put him donw. Luckily, the ball bounced away from the blitzing elf, and we managed to get it free to Br Sangunie Nova, who ran left, and passed to Canon Segue - the most experienced of our blitzers - although really still just a baby at only 30 matches - who turned on the speed down the left flank. The elves gave chase, which stopped us stalling to run out the game, and forced us to score in turn 6 of the second half, leaving the elves a 2 turn window to level the scores."

"Then nuffle stepped in, giving us a blitz (to counter the elven blitz from the first half), and we got Sub Deacon Legs and Canon Segue down on their two ball receivers. This worked well, as the Elves passer tripped while trying to escape Segue's grasping hands, leaving Legs the simple task of picking the ball up and running in his 2nd - and our 3rd - TD of the match."

"I'd like to thank all our fans, and our opponents - both the honourable and the villainous - who have particiapted in our first 50 matches, and I've been blessed to have only missed one match through injury in all that time."
