#3 Bjarni Bjornbofrson – Smashed Ankle (-MA)
#13 Knutr Knutrson – Pinched Nerve (MNG)
#15 Tofi Thorverson – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#91 () – Damaged Back (NI)
The coaching staff of the 'Sons was dreading this mismatch, altho' the players themselves welcomed the chance to die fighting and earn their place at the feast tables in Valhalla.

But between them, and some blessing from the luck-father, and with 2 induced players and 3 more they just didn't mind losing, they came out with only 2 permanent linemen MNG - and that despite a cleared pitch at one point.

The coaching staff of the 'Sons started out rattled, and as a result badly botched their first turn and a possible chance at stealing a botched pickup, and the Miners recovered safely by Turn 3. A couple lucky bombs delayed a quick score, but the 'Sons were receiving end of Turn 6, already down to 8 players. A Pitch Invasion took out 5 of those (and only 3 Miners), and double-skulls on the first block opened the door for the dwarves to shuffle up. surround the majority of the down Norse and even mark the ball. Some unexpectedly fancy ballhandling allowed a punt, which only allowed the dwarves a long-odds pass into traffic that fell to the ground there, but the half didn't end before the 5 remaining 'Sons had taken out the 2nd and 3rd of 3 dwarves cas'd that half, to (partially) answer for their own 7 the Miners had sent to the box - so far.

Second half saw only 6 Norse facing 9 Dwarves, but a Perfect Defense multiplied that 9 on the LoS. The Sons, facing poor blocking options, attempted to field the ball first but dropped it, and the Dwarves pushed up further, knocking out two 'Sons and marking the remaining 4. However, a single 2d from the remaining Ulf freed a lineman on the side, and more fancy footwork and ballhandling got the ball in his hands, and he scampered almost beyond reach - only one dwarf could mark him with 2 GFI's. Which he then did to - and that was enough, the lineman tripping despite a RR just short of the score to start Turn 3.

It took the Dwarves 4 Turns to score, but during that time they also cleared the pitch - 1 in Reserves, 7 KO'd, 1 BH, 3 SI's and the bomber banned (the bribe failed in the first half).

The 'Sons' one Bloodweiser Babe went to work (don't ask), and to face 10 Dwarves the Sons lined up 6 for the Turn 7 kick - or, more accurately, only 5 after a Thrown Rock KO'd one. And then only 4 after the Ulf threw Both-Down and SI'd himself, and then that turned to 3 after a Troll Slayer KO'd another, and only 2 after the other TS BH'd the Troll. A Sons' Turn 16 Blitz for spp failed to net any, and 2 GFI's later it was 3-0, game over.

The Sons started off hoping to just survive - of their two scoring chances, the coaches blew any real chance at the first, and the Luck-Father decided they should fail at the second. But if that was the price for no permanent losses (one of the two Ulfs was slated for replacement - this makes that choice easy), then so be it, and welcomed!

Grats to the Miners - a dangerous team to any opponent, highly skilled and well coached, and this AV 7 team feels lucky to have escaped with only losing the game.

#1 Balin "HEALED" Steelhammer – Broken Jaw (MNG)
Well played, sir! the dice fell in our favor, especially in the second half. this match showcases the POTENTIAL strength of a developed dwarf team in the hands of a tired, lousy dwarf coach. my hat is off to a good sport of an opponent, who could have easily won this match, if willing to gamble his team to do so. good luck with developing those crunchy Norse.
