#4 Kumoku Noa – Dead (RIP)
#7 Hoku Arias – Smashed Ankle (-MA)
Season 35 - Game 1 (OoC)

Game began with a rock BH'ing a Miami player. Things looked pretty cool at the start, and then some blocks happened.

Kumoku Noa died on turn 2, despite the apothecary coming out to help. He attempted to mend a hole in his chest, but accidentally leaned too hard against his head, making another hole. He DID manage, in his defense, to heal the hole in his chest though... The Apothecary's Union require me to say that.

With the grind down the field, It went 1-0, and with only 8 at the end of the 1st, Hawaii grabbed the ball and scored right away in the 2nd (Zack Daniel throw to Kaneshiro for the TD. We then played as hard a defense as we've played in quite some time, leaving it for a Leap into the end zone for the win, which was unfortunately snaked.

Zach Daniel did, in fact, play some defense this match. He took a few hits and didn't die this time. He did pop the ball out in the middle of the 2nd with a key blitz into and through a TZ. In the end, the BallHawks played well enough to win this, and they honestly should have. It was a good game, but the better team on the pitch didn't get the credit for a W.

The Lineman (Arias) that took a movement bust also got the MVP, and learned how to Guard in the future. That's going to be somewhat important.

Next up: one of the two rivalry matches. Oof.

#6 Pickerel Moses – Broken Jaw (MNG)
#13 Junior Magnificent Jr. – Smashed Hip (-MA)
NCBB- Season 35
Week 1

Opening match of the season for Hawaii and Miami, and it turns into a humdinger of a match. Miami won the coin toss and elected to receive, and before the ball even hits the pitch a rock is thrown by one of Hawaii’s fans, crippling rookie Blitzer Junior Magnificent Jr. We are still looking for the perpetrator of the thrown rock; smashing someone hip from the stands? That kid has an arm! They may have a future in Blood Bowl. Hawaii immediately when hard on defense, sending in one of their Blitzers to harass the ball carrier, forcing Miami to tighten their protection on the ball. As the elves continued to pressure the Slann their star Catcher Kumoku Noa stepped in and was put to a permanent stop by Slann Blitzer Natal Adams. Hawaii called up their Apothecary but nothing could be done for the poor elf. Kroxigor Will Karoo joined in the scrum, smashing the hip of one of Hawaii’s line elves. But all this maiming could not stop Hawaii, as they sacked the ball carrier, scattering the ball in the middle of a smattering of players from both teams. Miami was able to clear out the elves and recover the ball, while another elven Catcher was injured via a Kroxigor tail. Pressing their numbers advantage, Miami began moving the ball forward, with Hawaii dodging in to cut off any advancement, and were even successful in turning over the ball. But the elves were trapped without a way out, and the ball was turned over with Miami recovering, further down field. The elves leveled a massive hit on a rookie line frog, removing him from the match, and though able to get another shot at the ball carrier, succeeded in only a push. With a leap and a dash Miami took the lead to close out the first half.

Start of the second half, the Warrielves receiving, playing 9-on-11, the elves gathered the ball, dropping back into the pocket, while pressing into scoring range with the rest of the team. Miami scrambled out, minimize the elves’ ability to score, but Hawaii stayed true to their passing roots, hurling a long pass before blitzing their way in to the endzone, tying the match at 1-all.

Miami received, still with a numbers advantage, and with ample time to score, but regardless of which way they turned, the elves of Hawaii were there to stop the advance. Ace Thrower Zach Daniel was able to dodge in under double coverage and set the ball loose, but the ball bounced to rest at the feet of the rest of the Miami team. Undaunted, Hawaii continued to put pressure on the ball, but in doing so, found themselves on the wrong widezone as the BallHawks advanced the ball down the field. With time running out the Slann pressed for the endzone, but the elves continued to dodge through and mark the ball carrier. And here is where it would end, in sight of the goal line, as the rookie linefrog carrying the ball mistimed the landing of his leap, in an unmolested route to scoring the winning touchdown.

A highly physical match from these two teams which ends in a fitting tie.

Good game.
