The Miners were once the Bears, based out of Paillole, and were acquired prior to the DLE Season 6 Draft. The team was bought by a local guild, mostly due to the interest of Inner Montfort craftsmen to see the chainsaws wielded by two of their catchers. After deconstructing and understanding these devices, the players using them were sold to other teams for stars and draft capital, continuing the tradition of Inner Montfort to take in the raw material that flow in on caravans, and then send out fine, well-crafted, and balanced weapons for a profit. The chainsaw does appear prominently in their logo still, demonstrating the value these players brought in establishing a new way to play the game for the franchise.

The Miners are based in Inner Montfort, on the far side of the gates from the rest of Bretonnia and inside the Axe Bite Pass. As a result, every visiting team is required to pass through the mighty fortress, and pay the extreme tolls, just to be able to reach the game. The Miners saying is "Pay the Toll," reminding their opponents that they will be required to pay when they try to take the field against them; blood, sweat, and tears are accepted currency, and the Miners expect to extract their due every match.

The greatest rivals to the Montfort Miners are the Metallique, based in Outer Montfort on the other side of the fortress-city. Not only are these division foes in walking distance of the Miner's stadium, albeit through the fortress-city and its tolls, but they have tried to claim all of the fans in Montfort since the start of the DLE. The Miners entered Season 6 looking to make an immediate mark on the league and bring the fans of Inner Montfort to their side.
