A long time ago way back when, before the sport of Blood Bowl expanded across the whole of the Old World and became the official substitute for war in all its forms and the greatest show on earth, the folks of Albion had long been playing a game similar to but not quite the same as Blood Bowl for generations at a time. Every few years the best of the best of the Four Nations of Greater Albion, Morien, Albary and Aeryn would square off to decide who was the best at the game of 'Roogbe'. The level of skill and physical prowess on display would put a tear in the eye of even the most hardened and grizzled Blood Bowl veteran, and thus it would have been for the newest league to come forth a great idea for the nations to put together an all-star roster of their best and brightest to meet the challenge.

But there was a bit of a mix up in the invitation.

Further down to around the west coast of Greater Albion lies the town of Wickford, known for its fishing fleets and its main exports of fish and shellfish from its myriad fishing fleets, including of course the famous Wickford whelks.

The latest team that signed up to the Four Nations league just before CIBBL+ sent its invite was the one made up entirely of local fishermen who were going to be doing it for a lark against some of their neighbouring villages. Imagine their surprise when on the day of the founding they landed themselves a once in a lifetime opportunity to go pro almost immediately after deciding to go semi-pro.

The Wickford Whelkers might not be the Nations' best or brightest but by Albion they're gonna be the best they've ever been.

Currently on hiatus for the fishing season, don't count us out yet!
