Many had come to the culling, fires roared in the forest and the noise from the boisterousness of the ungor was unrelenting.
“What is best in life?”, “To crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to here the lamentations of the women!”
My father spoke this to me as we sat at our fire. The fire burnt brightly and kept the cold away as we waited for what was to come.
The culling… I’ve never seen it before and lo, I would never wish to see it again for the blood spilt and flesh torn was great to behold.
“The Gor are a proud people son,” he snorted “We watch and learn.” He rubbed the top of my head, fingering the nubs of horns slowly developing upon it. I smiled. It was a good night.
“Now we will behold who will be the great ones!” The chief roared in anticipation of the culling to come. “Few have known the rewards of battle, lived to tell the tales but now, it is our time. The great game calls! We shall answer! We bring forth our mightiest warriors from our clan, the Abana Adrastu. All will hear of our winnings, doings and much drinking!”
“Here! “ The beasts roared. I knew it was a good time to be an ungor, even amongst the lowly, together as one we are great, I thought.
