First off, nice job Nyberg on the mummy writeup in his TacticaUndead article!

Here I will give some tips on developing an undead team.

Starting Rosters

A

  • 2 mummies
  • 2 wights
  • 2 ghouls
  • 5 zombies/skeletons
  • 3 rerolls
  • 9 FF
  • 10k cash

B

  • 2 mummies
  • 2 wights
  • 3 ghouls
  • 6 zombies/skeletons
  • 2 rerolls
  • 7 FF

Which Roster to choose depends on what advantages you prefer to hold over your first few games. Roster A gives added reliability with the extra reroll, as well as maximum FF which helps in kickoff results and cash after the game. Roster B gives 13 players, which will give some reserves. This is handy especially against other rookie teams.Most races will most likely have 11 players. However, starting with 3 rerolls is cheaper in the long term, since the price doubles once you've played your first game.

I will absolutely recommend zombies over skeletons. It is nice to have the added move of a skeleton but they will get stunned, KO'ed and injured more often than zombies, and like most teams, you want to keep your players on the pitch. Once you have 4 ghouls you will have plenty of mobility for positioning and assists, and won't find room for a skelly on your starting 11. Unless you have a specific use or theme for skeletons, go with zombies.

Skill Development

Mummies : These are your ultimate 1-2 punch. Develop one to compliment and support the other. ALWAYS take ST or MA if you roll it(unless he's MA 5 ST 7 already!) Do not take AG, it's a waste for him. There are plenty of other ag2 on your team already, if you need another, buy a zombie!

  • 1st skill Block. Why? Look at how many turnovers you caused trying for your first 3 cas and there's your answer! Doubles first go with sidestep or dodge. I won't recommend frenzy or stand firm for first skill.
  • 2nd and 3rd skill Guard and Multiple block. Take Guard for your first mummy to get to 16spp, and multiblock for the second mummy. Doubles take dodge or sidestep if he has block or dodge, go with dodge or frenzy if he has sidestep already.
  • 4th and 5th skill Break Tackle and Tackle.
  • 6th and 7th skill Pick whatever you like, just be happy if he hasn't aged!

When to Retire? any niggle, MA or ST loss needs retired immediately if possible. Loss of AG, don't worry :)

Wights : Take ANY stat increase you roll with wights.

  • 1st and 2nd skill Sure Hands and Tackle. Take sure hands on first wight to skill, tackle on the second one. Then pick the other at 16 spp. Doubles go with Mighty Blow(if ST 4), Dodge(if MA 7) or Pass(if AG 4).
  • 3rd Skill Strip ball. Unless he has ag4 then go with Pass Block.
  • 4th SkillShadowing or Pass Block.
  • 5th, 6th, and 7th skill Still no stats or doubles? Haha too bad for you!

When to Retire?ST, AG or niggle, replace ASAP. MA loss, replace when you've failed more GFI than you can stomach!

Ghouls : Warning! Do NOT get attached, they do not regenerate! Take ANY stat increase you roll.

  • 1st skill Block. On doubles take Guard. If he's niggled take Frenzy
  • 2nd and 3rd Skill Sidestep, Tackle. Take Catch on one ghoul if you have no AG 4 on your team. This will help skill up other players.
  • 4th and 5th Skill Sprint, Sure Feet. Doubles take Mighty Blow if he's got block and guard already.
  • 6th and 7th skill What? Your ghoul is still alive? PM me and tell me what you picked for it!

When To Retire? You'll know, trust me!

Zombies : The fodder, the grunts, the uncared for. Take any Stat increase.

  • 1st Skill Dirty Player and Block. Any zombie that skills will take one of these first. On doubles take Guard.
  • 2nd SkillTackle(if he has block), Block or Kick(if DP), doubles take dodge if DP, Guard if block, Sidestep if he has guard already, Piling on if he's niggled. The odd diving tackle may surprise the odd opponent too!
  • 3rd skill Strip ball if block and tackle, otherwise block or tackle!
  • 4th skill if no doubles or stats yet, take DP. Also doesn't hurt to have another kicker in case your DP kicker has been sent off.
  • 5th, 6th and 7th skillHope you've rolled a double or a stat!
