Stables

The following are the rules and set-up instructions for Stables and Stable matches within the [R]anked division. Some of them are to ensure the smooth running of the Stable system, while others are there to reduce the potential for power-gaming and munchkinism. A select few are implemented to make sure that we do not constitute a league of our own and thus maintain compliancy with the [R]anked rules.

Stable Rules

  1. All Ranked rules apply.
  2. A Stable consist of five or more coaches. No coach may be in more than one stable.
  3. A Stable Event consists of five coaches from one Stable facing off against five coaches of another Stable. Each coach plays one and only one coach from the opposing Stable.
  4. Individual Stable matches are played within a given Team Strength bracket. The TS brackets are Rookie (100-), Experienced (101-125), Veteran (126-150), Pro (151-175), Elite (176-200) and Legend (201+). Bear in mind that, due to Rule 1, teams with a TS of 250 might run into problems with the 40 TS rule. Use your judgment when submitting one for a Legend game.
  5. A Stable may participate in only one Stable Event per Round - a period of approximately two weeks.
  6. Once the match-ups of a Stable Event have been finalised, all participating teams may not play any further games until they have played their Stable match. The team may not change TS brackets.
  7. Stable matches must be played within two weeks of the match-up finalisation, preferably before the end of the current Round.

Rules Discussion

The following are currently being considered by the community:
(General Summary Rule):

  1. Don't be "Lame and Cheesy".

(Is there a better wording for this?)

Stable Event Set-Up and Resolution

Stable Events are started when one Stable challenges another. Stables may of course decline challenges, but if they do so they will be mocked for the rest of their days, which may in turn cause them to disband in shame. Once two Stables have agreed to play, set-up continues as follows:

  1. The Stables agree on a third party referee, who will assist in the rest of the set-up procedure. This may be any coach unaffiliated to either Stable.
  2. Each Stable chooses ten TS brackets within which they have teams that can play in the forthcoming Stable Event and send these to the referee. No TS bracket may be selected more than three times.
  3. The referee chooses five matching TS brackets at his discretion from the two Stables and informs both Stables of the selected brackets. If there are fewer than five matches, the referee asks both Stables to extend their lists.
  4. Each Stable sends a list of five teams adhering to the chosen TS brackets to the referee. If any of the teams do not adhere to the required TS bracket, the referee should ask the coach(es) involved to either submit a different team, or get their team within the TS bracket ASAP before proceeding.
  5. The referee informs the Stables of the match-ups occuring. Teams from TS brackets occuring more than once are paired randomly against teams of the other Stable.
  6. The Stable Event can now commence, and may Nuffle have mercy on your soul. Whichever Stable has the most wins when all five games are played is the Event winner. If both teams win the same amount of games, the Event is a draw.

Miscellaneous Information

In order to adhere as best we can to the [R]anked rules and keep our teams from effectively forming a league of their own, Stables cannot participate in more than one event per Round. Each Round is a period of approximately two weeks. A new thread will be started on the forums at the start of each Round for challenges, smack talk, referee seeking, match results and whatever else you want.

In order to facilitate new Stables joining at any time, the scoring system being implemented is based on the ELO System, much like Coach Ranking. A newly formed stable starts with a Stable Ranking of 1500, which goes up when they win, and down when they lose. As well as facilitating new entries, this system also means that the top dog isn't simply the Stable that has played the most games.
