In the past, Wood Elf teams were successful even without the loners. I remember OldBugman saying that if a woodelf team shows up with 11 players they are hard to beat (LRB4). Wood Elves have it really good these days, there's no sense in complaining about casualties suffered if you play with them though - thats their nature. It is also an important balancing mechanism to blood bowl.
What you should do if you want to be good with them and preserve your players at the same time is to watch replays of good Wood Elf coaches. Erikekers was the best but also Kryten, purplegoo and Azure spring to mind. Watch how they avoid tacklezones, screen off their star players, be patient in attacking the ball and stall out as much as possible on offense. |

1) Roll a lot of stats
2) Whine a lot during the first half of the game
3) Get really lucky once

But you just make it sound so so easy
I'm not gonna say that I haven't done my fair share of dicings but when you get more than you give its kinda hard not to become displeased with it all, getting kicked while your up and then getting killed while your down just makes you wanna be the type of coach who isn't there to play the game, it turns you into the kinda coach who is just plan and simply over it |

Taking a very VERY impartial view of statistical variance is the main element in a happy and strong BB coach.
I do mean VERY. Like way beyond what you are thinking when you think 'yea I know about odds but it ALWAYS happens to me.' Not impartial enough for the 1000s of dice rolled in this league. |

It isn't. I can't do it like those guys can which is why I never really play elves. As relezite said, you have to be super impartial and critical on yourself. Also, you cant let guys leaving the pitch make you panic.
Elves is basically 13 turns of pain and 3 turns of BS. |

Check out some of those beauties, every game they survive, every apo roll that saves them, it's just one closer to the game that kills 'em for real, usually in a big cluster of casualties that finally made it impossible to spend the rookie's lives defending them. |

In breaking news, I could for the first time in my SWL career be demoted to Regionals. That's like Elvis being still alive and playing a gig at the Uni Bar in Armidale type of event. |
