Hi,
out of interest, and for possible helpfulness, thought it might be useful to have a thread for those completely new to Fumbbl for the RTTNAFC. Ask any completely silly questions, look for those happy to give demo games, all that sort of thing. Do read the user guide first though! https://fumbbl.com/help:CRP
I've done a few demo videos here, which might be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL66e87BczVUBt-xkg4NyeceICWS6Sh1bw

Okay, I played quite a lot Fumbbl quite some years back (with LRB4). At the time we downloaded a client. But now this no longer is needed, correct? Some Java-automagic thingy going on?
Also: How de arrange matches for this? Through gamefinder? Or some sort of challenge-mode? |

That's right. When you start a game or spectate, the client will automatically download. Spectating is a good way o get the client and check everything is working before finding a game.
How to arrange matches depends on which division you are playing in. In Ranked division, yes, the main method is to use the gamefinder, though you can also ask on IRC or by PMs.
Then there's also Blackbox, which will automatically schedule a game for you vs a random opponent. That division has a bit of a bad reputation with some, but basically it's just a bit of a bashier environment, particularly at high TV.
And, of course, there is League, where you will usually be scheduled against a series of opponents and arrange when to play via PMs or IRC.
Lastly, but far from leastly, there is Stunty division, which works like Ranked, in that the main way to get games is to use the gamefinder. |

That`s a good tip, thanks, Ill do that.
About arranging matches, I was thinking for this tournament specifically, but I assume it will straightforward and intuitive. |

I think it is, but there are some good notes in the rulespack links section, which I'll reproduce over PM when we get going.
Welcome back! (Also, good ninja xnoelx ) |

Right. For this tournament specifically, each round you will have a specific opponent. They will appear just below your team's name on your coach page. If you click on their name, you will be taken to their coach page. At the top is a menu bar, which says Overview, About, Blog, Statistics and More. If you click on 'More', you see an option to 'Send PM'. Use that to contact them and arrange a time when you can both play the game.
The rulespack has a link to a blog by Azure which gives a good example of how to do that. For ease of reference, that link again. |

one other important thing is that both coaches have to agree on a "game name", which is typed into a popup when client has started. |

I believe that the "game name" is case sensitive. Getting the case wrong could be a source of problems. |
Correct; it is. |

Extra tip for slow connections. The client downloads the first time, which may take a while. The authentication process has a timer, and it will launch a "wrong password" popup if the download takes too long. Should this happen, just re-launch the client, it should be much faster from the second time on. |
