Secret League Americas - Season 4 - Builder Division - The Disapperators Week 9
The Disapperators (Ethereal) vs. Red Arrow (High Elves)
https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3990785

The Ethereal team was jacked up for the early start, last match of the season, and Blitzed the opening kickoff instead of being on the receiving end. The kick was on the line of scrimmage two squares up from the south sideline, and the ghosts were able to form a screen around that portion of the pitch and Matilda sat under the ball, but the early morning sun got in her eyes and she failed the 2+ catch, but luckily the ball landed on the Red Arrow side of the pitch next to the sidelines, and the agressive blitz action didn't backfire on the ghosts. blocks were traded back and forth, with the High elves cutting off the south flank well, forcing the ghosts to regroup in their territory. The elves played like orcs, bashing the spirits (Dzurgen once again off the pitch by turn 3 badly hurt) and forcing a gamble where matilda handed the ball to Crezgan (Wini hypnotized the blitzer marking Crezgan), who raced deep into Red Arrow's north flank. an unmarked elf was able to mark Crezgan, setting up the blitz for the High elf blodging blitzer, but Crezgan was not to be denied this time, Foul Appearance preventing the blitz, and leaving the wraith standing in scoring position! Wini leaped away from the markers and hypnotized one elf, Matilda leaped and hypnotized the other elf, and Crezgan ran into the endzone, taking a 1-0 lead midway through the half.

Perfect defense allowed the Disapperators to tie up the elf line for one turn, But the elves bashed their way through the spirit defense on the south flank, getting 3 players into scoring position. the 3 remaining wraiths swarmed the receivers, but were unable to knock them down on a blitz, and the last chance score attempt in turn 8 failed due to a handoff dropped due to disturbing presence!

The second half saw the ghosts receive the ball, securing it near the north midfield line, Matilda is starting to come into her own, completing a pass to Wini, and then grabbing the handoff back with no issues. The High elf defense once again cut off the flank attack, and forced the ghosts to retreat back to midefield on their side of the pitch, but Dzagun got up and leaped away into Red Arrow territory. A spirit host was knocked out, and after trading blows Dzagun was 3 squares from the endline. He leaped away from the elves surrounding him and crossed the endline (needed TRR to make the leap). Matilda ran forward past the line of elves and threw the ball to Dzagun, failed but her pass skill reroll succeeded and Dzagun made the catch! 2-0 ghosts with 4 turns to go.

Red Arrow pushed downfield, but Foul Appearance raised its head and prevented many blocks from the Arrows, and the wraiths knocked down the blitzer near the goal, and swarmed the other scoring threat, with a failed dodge ending the game.

Hard fought game, and it was nice for me to see plays i'd made earlier in the season that failed then, work these last few games. The ethereal team will never win blocking wars, but their movement potential can make up for this as long as you remember to not play them like some sort of bash team.

So, since this was their last match of the season, i'll give an update on team development.
current TV: 1590 TRR 3 FF 6 160,000 in bank

Wini: 24 SPPs Block Dodge
Matilda: 24 SPPs +AG Pass (the questionable decision to take pass payed off in this last game)
Crezgan: 16 SPPs Block Dodge (rolled double, was pleased)
Dzurgen: 18 SPPs +AG, Wrestle (he'd be fun if he stayed on the pitch, ever lol)
Horat: 24 SPPs Block Tackle (tackle was huge, stunned his blodgers 3 or 4 times this last game)
Dzagun: 13 SPPs Block (5 games in, been a good replacement for the dead one)
Chookuoo: 7 SPPs Block (first spirit host to level, and hasn't sniffed an SPP since)
Hooderdoo: 7 SPPs Dodge (after one game, thinking Dodge is better first skill than block for Spirit hosts...)
5 other spirit hosts with 0 SPPs

i'm probably going to buy a 4th reroll. normally i stick to 3, but the amount of leaping i do necessitates 4 or 5. i was torn between buying a reroll and buying 2 more spirit hosts to get up to 15 roster, but i think i'll play 3 friendlies in order to earn money for additional bench with a 4th reroll instead of adding 120,000 to TV before the friendlies... 50k seems more reasonable for where this team is at in its development.

So, with those changes, we enter the offseason at 1640 TV, 4 TRR, 60k in bank, and 5 of my 6 positionals are at Veteran level. Would have liked a better record than 3/1/5, but its a hell of a lot better than 0/1/8. lol.
