Do you like bagels?
Now, this is entirely un-Blood Bowl related, but what the hell, other people do blogs on all kinds of crap, so now it's my turn.

I've been around less for the last few weeks, so firstly, apologies for being a bit slacker than usual at responding to messages, arranging games, and doing my admin duties. The reason for this is that a lot of my spare time has been spent helping out my best friend, whose small business making bagels is in the midst of going from being home-based to having premises. And this is all on a shoestring budget. So I've been helping out fitting the empty shell of a building they got with floors, walls, ceilings, partition walls, etc. Lots of joinery, plasterboards, power tools, sweat, and tea (and a fair amount of bodging (I'm no expert at any of this stuff)). The good news is, we're almost done, and they should be opening next month.

The main reason for this blog though, is to share this: their Kickstarter.

I realise that unless you're pretty local, it's almost entirely irrelevant to you, but still, it's worth spreading the word. And if anyone does want to contribute, it will be heartily appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
xnx

Rated 5 for supporting organic food, local economy and old friends. Good luck to him!

Well, it's two hers, no him, but thanks!

Rated 6 for being about food. Rated 1 for being about bagels. 5 it is then (yeah I'm good at maths).

Demon, next time you're over (as long as it's not in the next week or two) just nip through the arch into Chinatown, they're just down there on the right. Tell em I sent you. You'll still have to pay like, but at least I'll get credit for sending them business...

Kam: bagelphobe! But really, the stuff they make is entirely different from the packaged mass-produced rubbish you usually get. Try their Black Forest bagel and then see if you rate it 1 (I realise that'd mean quite a round trip just for the sake of a bread product).

Black Forest is my favourite cake (and I'm generally quite sugar intolerant), there's no way you can turn that into a bagel, you bloody heretic! You'd be tracked down and burnt alive for having such blasphemous ideas in the Moot!

It's one of my favourite cakes too. And I thought sweet bagels was a weird idea. But black cherries and dark chocolate in a bagel really works. I guess that's why they're the bagel experts and I'm just the schlub who moves wood around.

Cheers xnx, I'll check it out and mention you when I'm down that way :)
I can probably lug some wood round if you want me too!

It seems strangely appropriate a building that is going to house a bagel shop should be full of holes.

Thanks Demon, but that side of things is pretty much done. The main things they need now are the oven, & the customers. So feel free to spread the word or share the link, especially to any organic, veggie/vegan, local, independent food loving types.

I would love to help the world get more bagels! :)
