ok, public notice
Okay, public notice. I am apparently known as one of those players who tends not to foul constantly, and more likely to foul back than foul first. There are a number of strategic reasons for this in my opinion. (I like having my players on the pitch instead of the penalty box, I don't want to waste endorsements on bribes if I don't have special weapons, I don't want to spend skill slots on dirty player, etc. Of course, they are unlikely to be believed or cared about, so what does it matter?)

However, this has apparently also made it where I can be piled upon with impunity, even at times when it is not tactically prudent. Thus, since the apparent only counter for piling on it fouling, there is a now officially a good chance of my fouling if you pile on. This may even happen more often than you would expect, until either 1) I stop getting piled on more than average, 2) I forget my new strategy and move on with my life, or 3) I am in a better mood than my current foul humor (no pun intended.)

Yeah, always foul if piled on.

Foul, don't foul...

Just throw more cpomb blocks.

It's a sound strategy, if nothing else the penalty box is safer than being on the pitch with a bunch of PO hacks. So I suggest that you foul with your best players first as an offensive and defensive tactic.

Always foul if the other guy piles on - and dont muck about. Surround him with 6 players and make sure he/she/it goes off. The only thing that cpomb teams like less than fouling is scoring TDs so there is rarely any point trying to make a proper defence until about turn5. This makes gang fouls viable. Do it.

Really ,foul any pile player!!It is nothing bad on it and in bb terms it means only "heh i respect you and im a bit scared about your ugly face.Come let me help ya up .Oppppss tripped!!

you know when you typed: 'I can be piled upon with impunity, even at times when it is not tactically prudent', you lost your intended audience right? as they all sat around wondering what this fabled 'not tactically prudent' could possibly mean.

They piled on because they could, not to try and win.

"Piled on because they could, not to try and win. "

This is the same reason I eat cookies, because I could. :)

I've reached the point where I fear PO less because of how much I like to lay the boot down :)

Do it up! Not fouling first is like playing cards and giving the person next to you all your Aces.

I would love to see a fouling match which results in a double sided pitch clear (either through sending off or injury). Go for that Pentalarc!

@garyt1
I think i may qualify for a match like that, had 5 bans in a row in one of my last matches. ^^

Got it now, all said, its a valid tactic either way. ^^

For signaling effect, using a sneaky git player and foul the PO guy even if he is protected while down works ok. This works, but not so much vs teams with multiple PO guys (then just keep breaking contact instead). Really bright oppos will just see the foul specialist and PO a bit less before you do anything.

I almost always PO if I'm using a claw/mb guy. About the only exception would be if I need to be up to assist a 2nd important 2db.

Has finally cost me though. Am down to only 1 kill stack guy in smallkosp and havnig to keep his niggle until I can skill up a new one.

What's better than taking a player out of the game on each of your turns, doing it on each of opponents turns too :)

I strongly doubt anyone has ever even remotely known or cared about your approach towards fouling ;)
Posted by C3I2 on 2014-01-28 13:14:46
Of course it matters, both in-game and pre-game. Fuzzy signals is one of the fun meta-parts of ranked play.

Awesome. Now I can foul you all 16 turns without feeling guilty.

Oh, wait a minute, I could before anyway...

Don't hesitate for the sake of being a nice guy. Fouling a PO guy is never 'bad'.
Too bad that (even if you have a dp for the purpose) fouling still doesn't give you a good result on average.

+1

I fouled, because I could also works quite well for me.

Don't remotely know or care if anyone remotely knows or cares about my stance on fouling. Made the decision for tactical reasons, blogged about it for bad mood reasons.
