Road Trip
A cool journey is to be taken by yours truly !

First the bad news. My father has recently fell ill, He lives in spain with my mother and has done for 11 years. my parents have been trying to come home (england) for 3 years now, but because of the poor economy in spain , it has been very difficult for them to sell their house.

Anyway to cut a long story shortish, I will be travelling to spain in a van to collect my parents, thier 2 small dogs and as much of their personal belongings as the van will carry. This journey is 1250 miles each way. they live near valencia and i live near ipswich uk. My father can not fly home due to his condition and my mother wants him to receive care in england.

I will be leaving england on 27 April and returning hopefully before may 1st. I am looking forward to the trip as i have never driven abroad before. my route will take me through the westish side of france and then down through barcalona and towards valencia. Cost is an issuse so i will be avoiding as many tolls as possible.

I will be coming back form france on the ferry and probally travel to france through the channel tunnel.

This should be a once in a life time road trip and hopefully a good one to remeber :-)

I am excited and nervous about the trip but i just cant wait to get my parents home!

you could take the ferry to Bilbao, thus missing France?

the ferry is going to cost nearly 767£ and also nearly 2 days ;-( fuel and even tolls cost a lot less. also the ferry would only miss out france and start me at north of spain, which just is not worth the extra cost. but many thnx for the suggestion pythrr. all suggestions are welcome ;-)

See if Spain has any cherry fields please. I hear they have great pickers in that part of Europe. :D

Well it sounds a hard trip. Might be fun though if you relax and dont stress about stuff.

G luck with it and I hope your parents get settled back over here as quickly and easily as possible.

Cool
My dad lives in Spain to and I have many times driven both from Sweden and from Brussels to Spain and Costa Blanca. Driving in France is pretty fun once passed Paris and it is realy nice the way the climate changes once you get into southern France. Have a fun trip!
