In Praise of Podcats
Wanted to say a few words about the podcast series spearheaded by Throweck with Morehouse and Purplechest co-hosting. I've gotten a surprising amount from it, from a few different angles.

Firstly, from a learning, strategy and tactics POV it's great. For the number of games I've played my record is quite poor, I want to improve, and I recently inquired with couple of top coaches about the mentor programme. Haven't gotten that set up quite yet, but the hosts have given a lot of helpful perspective. One thing I'm quite slow about is which TV range different races are strong at, and the discussions so far have opened my eyes (I hope) to some considerations that should apply not just to those particular races, but more widely.

A related point is that this is actully a live discussion, and a meeting of the minds often produces perspecitves and insights that the discussants might take much longer to reach, if ever. This has made me feel better about my slow progress, as I realise (from Discord too, which I got involved in recently) that lots good coaches are good mates, and interaction off the pitch is part of what makes good coach, as well as good times. This is probably too obvious to mention for many coaches, but for someone like me who's played away on and off in relative isolation for years, it's an eye opener. (Of course there's great discussion and plenty of good and friendly advice on the boards too)

On the subject of 'silent coaches' as put it Christer in the special, it was great to get a shout out, saying he apreciates us guys too. Everyone always says what a good dude he is for doing it all, which is obviously true, but this showed another thoughtful side. And of course the fumbbl origin story was awesome.

Hearing about enthuasists into tabletop was also cool. I live in Dublin and haven't found much going on here. I'm self concious about walking into a gaming shop full of kids half my age and looking for opponents in a game nealy as old as I am. I'd like to play maybe in a pub league like I think PC mentioned in London, but that doesn't seem to be going on. But as we get older, it's commonplace that we have more money to spend on things we like, but less time to enjoy them. So I think I'll maybe make a trip to York for the big January event mentioned. I've only played a handful of TT games, including one last Christmas when my brother played to humour me – a throwback to childhood days. I remember the same thing with Advanced Heroquest back in the 80s, but at least with Blood Bowl I've learned the rules properly before roping them in!

The CIBBL special introduced me to yet another big thing I knew nothing about. I've already got my fluff figured out, but that can go there.

So grats Throweck, team and guests, delighted you're into 1,000+ listeners, and look forward to ye keeping up the good work.

I'm a Poddog person myself... but to each his own.

Hear, hear! I enjoyed the podcasts, too.

I am shocked to hear that there is no pub league in Dublin. If not there, where? ;-)

Thanks for the kind words. they are fun to do.
But i deny liking morehouse. It's somewhere between tolerate and pity.

Thank you also for the kind words! Have to be honest, really love doing them even they take some prep and post production afterwards. Getting better at that though. The three of us talk through what we want quite a lot and we have some new features on the horizon. Even thinking of doing little intros.

A big thanks to Christer as the technical advice came from him!

Pity from PC makes sense. When he thinks about how much effort he has put into Blood Bowl, and then imagines how much someone even better at the game than him must have invested, he obviously sees a man that needs serious help.
