The 4 catcher experiment.
Skaven have 4 Gutter Runners, Pro Elves have 4 Catchers, High Elves have 4 Lion Warriors. These teams make good use of their receivers. Yet you rarely see a Human team with 4 Catchers. My challenge is to play with 4 human catchers and have a >50% win record after 20 games.

My set up:

Plucky Ducks
4 blitzers
4 catchers
3 linos
3 rr
6 ff

It's a bit low on the ff, but Humans are cheap anyway. Cross my fingers and hope it works. If I don't slack off too much I'll keep a diary of my team's (mis)fortunes here.

Anyone think I could make it work?

four catchers can be awesome. They give you an awesome movement and mobility advantage.

Def. it will work. Just launch them at your oppo and Long Bomb the ball (a couple skills needed) and you are unstoppable. MA8 on catchers is awesome, especialoly with sprint/surefeet blodge.

Good luck rolling 3+ as you will need it.. ALOT.

Thing with catcher is that if you have too many it hurts your alreayd only average blocking game and suddenly elves outmuscle and outlast you.

btw: 50% win record isn`t THat hard... rather make 'proper' humans as a control.

Create a team in [B]lackbox.... if you want to test something seriously then the best way to do it is against all comers with no choice of opponent.

I was thinking about a similar concept over the last few days... I think I concluded you couldnt really start it with 4 blitzers (and I like the idea of putting an ogre in the mix). The 4 catchers pickup block, surehands, and sidestep then cage followed by a swift handoff action to shift the focus right across the pitch.

You might be very well right, SillySod. I'll do that once this team gets retired. Truth be told, I have a feeling this kind of team is weak anyway and seemed like a good method to lower my CR, so that's why I went with Ranked. On the other hand, I don't issue challenges in Ranked nor do I say no to a challenge all that often. If you don't believe me, I suppose there's only my word.

Anyway, first coach to ask me was [url=http://fumbbl.com/~und_ed]und_ed[/url]. Their team was 126/118 woodies that might've achieved much but und_ed said the dice were holding them back. He also made some "interesting" play decisions, some of which I would not do myself. Perhaps I shouldn't have played this one?

Won the match with 4-1, skilling two Catchers in the process (twice Block). One lino died in the process, and one Catcher tripped himself to MNG in the last turn attempt to go 5-1. Earned 50k, which went into replacing the dead lino.

The catchers proved themselves useful in an aggressive defense, but perhaps I was fortunate to have that option. We have another 19 games to find out. ;)

Sure, you will probably keep going. I would've completed the team by exchanging a blitzer for a thrower. Sure hands, pass and catch is 3 rerolls. Needed on a 3+ team.
