The clash of the Titans reared its head once more as the Premiership Giants, Real Sociedead and Bristol Reavers went head to head in a final, fitting, game to the season!

Both Teams were hyped up for the game, and with Sirius 1907ers chasing, both knew that nothing less than a win here today would do, and both had invested money into the game as the Reavers loaned Nobbla and Real loaned, for the first time this season, the Count!

Bad Press had hounded the Reavers prior to the game, such headlines as:

Duke – The Truth, “I’m just a fat Gobbo with quick feet”

And…

“My wild night in the Reaver’s hotel room” – by Gustav Segerström

This had also left them feeling a little gloomy… and err, doomy ( :S )

The Reavers won the toss and elected to receive. Real soon realised they had no idea what to do, they came without a game plan looking at the far more talented individuals on the opposing team. Gerardo gave the orders, “Get the ball to the Count!”.

Nobbla started his saw, and highlighted as the danger man, Morten Skoubo blitzed at him… a failed gfi and a double skull later and he was on his ass beneath a ripping saw. Reavers spotted their chance to remove the count with the saw, and they did that, KO! But Nobbla wasn’t finished… he took out another Ghoul and even fouled another before a dodging team Captain put him to the ground, stunned!

Many men down, it took great nerve and the thankfully all out of luck Reavers blunder to secure a TD for Real!

1 – 0

Nobbla hadn’t been sent off… no KOs had returned, and so with 2 turns left, 9 Real players mounted a defence. With pressure on Reavers to go all out, they left Duke vulnerable, so Strip Balling team captain aided by two others pushed him back and took the ball from his hands. This however was not enough alone to stop a combination of agile Blitzers… thankfully the difficult dodges were and the Duke fell, ending the half!

Second half… and still no KO returns, the four men, including the Count, remained in the box. The reavers set up against them, and both teams went and got the Ref! Things were about to get bloody…

The Reavers tore through the zombies, DPing them where they could. Real pushed them as best they could and started fouling anything the Mummies knocked over. Reavers decided to score early to try and hope to capitalise on the Counts absence and spare further players any injury.

1 – 1

All but two zombies returned giving Real 11 men again, but more importantly the Count was amongst the returnees.

Real started hitting anything, and with the aid of Juanito badly hurt a Black Orc. The count however proved to be an early flop, and despite two attempts failed to catch a handoff.

Nobbla got his saw going again… and the Orcs dove in, the Duke lodging himself near the spilt ball. Zombies en-masse blocked him down, while Gerardo tried but failed to put Nobla to the floor.

With Duke down, Juanito stepped in and KILLED him! The crowd went ballistic only to yield to moans as the Apoth saved him. As Real pressed, another Black Orc left the field courtesy of zombie blocker, Arturo Sevillano and the Count picked it up and ran towards the Mummies… from there it seemed over, but the Reavers continued to make it less than simple for the count by making a couple bold moves to push him back and hold him off… but alas it was no use. Marked only by a Black Orc blocker, with the aid of Gerardo, super star ghoul, Díaz de Cerio, blitzed and killed the Black Orc (now on free transfer!) and allowed the Count to take the score!

2 – 1

******************************
Mid-season, this game wouldn’t have happened this way. I wouldn’t have bought the count whilst missing/carrying niggled players, and Pythrr would likely have held on for the draw.

The Doom and Gloom really saved me (Pythrr had 1 RR which he used on the saw straight away) as the Count went straight away due to my pathetic Ghoul failing to bother Nobbla.

The GTR for the second half let my Zombies really pile on the damage to get rid of Pythrr’s men. Still was close even till the very end as I had rolled a few double skulls that quickly ate away at my RRs had Pythrr kept making me roll those dice.

VGG Pyth….

The spoils were, 3 pts enough cash for a replacement Wight, and another aged niggled Ghoul… and the sad thing is: the Premiership isn’t yet decided!

Goff can walk away with this on TD/CAS difference if he wins, its close on TDs and I haven’t calculated the CAS score yet. :)

Come on Haderak!!!

Chaos FTW!!!

#12 Paul Nixon – Dead (RIP)
Yup, was a big risk scoring with 5 turns to go in 2nd half, but I didn't want to hand Gritter the title too easily....

Pity that the Vamp and the 2 ghouls came back from KO, and the 2 crappy zombies didn't.

Still, a fun game. Forza the cup!

The game really was decided on 2 bits of luck:

[1] Sera scoring with his ghoul after making two key 1-dice blocks with no RR in the first half.

[2] Me failing to score in T8 with a 3+ dodge with no RR.

Either of these going the other way would have handed me a 1-0 or a 2-1 win respectively....

But such is the whim of nuffle.
