After a hard thought season to avoid relegation Real Sociedead had finally reached the precipice, and were almost coasting down the other side, they just needed a tie at the Reavers ground, or at least limit how much they lost by… what could go wrong?

Pain in the ass, The Duke, looked exceptionally up for the game, not that he was accustomed to putting in poor performances… but today he seemed to have a spring in his step.

Real received and started well, with a Ion Txoperna Garcia boot sending a Black Orc to the BH box… the Mummies however set the standard for their game, failing to do anything and causing Real an early headache.

Real formed a tough front line as the ball carrier nestled in the back, ready for the drawn out melee… however, they had not regarded the ability of the Duke in their strategy. The Duke leaped over the Real line and hit the ball carrier whilst the rest of the Orcs piled in to tie everything they could up.

DP envy ensued as Real’s Juanito hit his rival Jamie Shore, seriously hurting him with a grand block that later lead to Jamie’s retirement.

Meanwhile, rookie Mummy, Claudio, ran in to blitz the Duke away and fell over his bandages as he tried to sprint that extra one yard.

The Duke put the Ball Carrier down and scooped it up, whilst another Blitzer squeezed through to lend a hand.

In return Karla Larburu put the Duke down with some assistance and knocked the ball free as more Orcs then flooded in. An slight opening appeared for Real if the could just move the Duke away, Claudio was called back into action, his earlier failings could all be forgiven… he blitzed in to the Duke and tried to block the Duke’s fist with his own head, Claudio hit the ground like an egg from a tall chicken!

Karla was then pushed into the ball where it happily bounced into the hands of the Duke who took the gift horse and lead it to the endzone.

0 - 1

After the first half serious consideration was taken by the coaching staff in benching the two rookie Mummies who had caused more trouble than they had thus far proved worth, assistant coach Robbo44 concurred… but the Zombies wanted some backup and they took to the field again.

The second half was quick to get into a brawl, with a Wight and Black Orc quickly sent to the BH bin as the Duke manoeuvred himself around a shield of Green Skins. The side stepping black Orcs proved too much for the Real Mummies to handle despite their perfect defence and when Real managed to tie the Duke up in anything remotely resembling threatening the Duke cheerily skipped on by and straight to the endzone… Real never looked to have a chance of halting their run.

0 - 2

The game was sure enough an exercise in showcasing the Duke’s talents and a further touchdown at the end of the game gave him a wonderful Orc Hat-Trick as Real failed to do very much at all except look embarrassed.

0 - 3

With the game over, Real’s position has surely worsened. They’ll require InterRatztionale to get any result other than a win by a 5TD margin, which after the Dragons last awesome performance against the Reavers (especially in light of their own) looks unlikely or hope that Mummywell FC lose altogether.

It’s grit your teeth time for the Real camp and all eyes will be glued to the TV sets in the coming final round.

====
Bar the inexplicable failure to do anything by the Mummies except cause turnovers when I had to rely on them, the players themselves didn’t do much wrong; it’s just that neither did Pythrr’s. I utterly underestimated the danger that Pythrrr was willing to put the Duke in and did not pose him to be as much of a threat that he was at the start… I quickly paid for my mistake.

The game did highlight the lack of agility, speed and manoeuvrability my team has right now, so the sooner we get more Ghouls the better.

Good and entertaining game - well played Pyth.
