Nuffle League Season 3 - Recruiting

I am proud to present Season 3 of the most Chaotic League on Fumbbl... and honestly anywhere for Blood Bowl.

New and updated, I went through every single roster on the site all the way back since the beginning of its creation, filtering through over 8000 teams to gather the players for this league.

What is the Nuffle league you ask? Well it is different from anything you have ever played before on this site. Think of it as a Roguelike version of Bloodbowl. You are given a starting team of 11 players that are completely random from a list of 1766 different positionals. To get another player, you get to roll 3 of those players, and you get to choose one. It allows for unique combinations and strategies that ensure that no two games will ever be the same, even against the same opponents.

We will be using the 2016 skill rolls, and the 2020 ruleset for the games played.

The ensure the balance of the league, we are lowered the number of bombers and big guys on the list. The average player may get a big guy about once every 4 rolls, and a bomber like rolling a natural 20 on a d20.

The Nuffle League features every single player currently on any roster on Fumbbl. This includes the regular teams, the secondary teams (Brettonia, Simyin, and Slann), the Stunty Teams, the Secret League Teams, CIBBL Modified Players - including their very own Carnival of Chaos, Relic Slann, and Blood Naga teams, along with some other more obscure teams with a ton of flavor, fluff, and fancy icons. In the past, we have had 616 players, but now, there are currently 1766 different positionals that could end up on your team!

If you are interested, please let me know and we will have Nuffle work their magic and get you a team all set up and ready to go. It does test your knowledge of the game as you will see everything, and probably some things you have never seen before.

We have players from both the US and European Time Zones. We are playing bi-weekly, 14 day roll overs. Come one and come all, to the most chaotic games you will ever play on this site!

XpherAndTheAxes: It's like TrashMouse is handing out Shrooms and random Figurines and telling us to play Blood Bowl

The Demon: There isn't a league like it. I play in a lot of leagues, and every league is different. Its uniqueness makes it amazing! Bow down to TrashMouse!

Carlo Pellegattti (Luca): The league concept is so cool it's weird it was not a thing before you came!

Wintergreen13: So excited to get my Nuffle League team going again! Love this league!

Here is our Discord which is what we use for our primary mode of communication: https://discord.gg/uQfjnkK5Uh

There is just one last question... Will Nuffle favor you?

Mary's Land Terrible Terrapins start season 47 with a surprising draw against the BGSU Falcons
After a first half that could only be described as hilariously bad, the Terrible Terrapins staged a second half for the record books coming back to pull off the draw against the well coached and impressive BGSU Falcons. While the draw is not a win (or so the Slann priests often tell us on the sacred day of the week), given how last season started the Terrapins can only be relieved by this outcome.

The half started with Harmony One-Love (major - underwater biodegradable container construction) again forgetting she was in the middle of a blood bowl game. Off season rumors are swirling that Harmony has developed a friendship with a wood elf wardancer, both of whom are deeply connected with nature. Harmony must have been still thinking of those times in the Lustrian forest as throughout the first half she often stopped moving to stare out at the flowers growing at the side of the field. Harmony's struggles however, were matched by the rest of her team as Darren Damascus (major - Lustrian History) failed to pick up the opening kick off. BGSU quickly took advantage, sending their hired star Varag Ghoul-Chewer up the center to make a hole for P.J. Pope to come up and mark the ball. The rookie Saurus John Stevensville (major - statistics) went to try and push P.J. off the ball only to have himself knocked off the field. It was short work for P.J. to pick up the ball and run it in for the first score.

Harmony One-Love enjoying some flowers and losing track of the game before being pummeled by angry chaos dwarves

Second drive started much as the first as the drive moved forward deep down the field. Unfortunately, Jaxson Airy (major - economics) miss set his blocks and was knocked out as a result. Vanessa Gaithers-burg (major -economics) was able to pick up the ball and run it down to the end zone. Unfortunately, P.J. again was able to track her down and arrest the ball from her. Despite some bad luck by BGSU, Alessandra Alleygainy (major - Physics) ended up forgetting how to block and P.J. was able to run for a second score.

Coach Lancelott yelling at his team in the first half, and questioning his life choices

Rumors swirled that coach Lancelott was threatening player's scholarships at halftime and many of the players were seen bolting from the dugout halftime with a new fire in their eyes. At the start of the second half Mary's Land got off to a blazing start with a blitz on the ball. Jaxson Airy was able to run dep into the backfield of BGSU, only to trip after trying to go to far. This didn't end up coming back to bite the Terrapins as Phil Villapiano ended up fumbling the pick up. Jaxson took this opportunity to jump through the arms of both centaurs to encredibly pick up the ball and run in for the score. With this shot of confidence the Terrapins again kicked the ball and played with a renewed fire. This change obviously took BGSU by surprise as the team ended up getting stymied in the center of the pitch. The Terrapins took advantage of this by surrounding the ball and after a couple of fortunate bounces and a heroic blitz by chameleon skink O. Sean City (major - Business/Logistics), Phil Villapiano was forced to try to make a run for the end zone. This was run down by Mary Bethesda (major - Mathematics) after which Darren Damasucs picked up the ball and made a successful pass to Vanessa Gaithers-burg who ran in the ball for the equalizing score.

Coach Lancelott, asked after the game if he was really going to cut some of the players offered only a 'no comment'. Given this initial result, there is a lot of hope for the coming season and with all to play for there is a lot of excitement at the Mary's Land campus.

CIBBL Recruitment for Year 13 Autumn - Final Spot(s) Left!

CIBBL latest season has just started - but we happen to have one or two final open spots! If you still want to get in on the fun, this is your opportunity.

Tired of always facing the same few races? Come and join a league with around 130 unique rosters.

Meet nearly 435 unique Star Players ready to show that you don't need the Morg 'n' Thorgs, Dribblesnots, Skuttlespikes & Piewhistles of this world to find glory.

Are you ready to create your own myths & legends?

CIBBL is one of the largest custom-roster scheduled leagues on FUMBBL and one of the largest active scheduled leagues on FUMBBL.

More importantly it is the place where stories are born!

CIBBL (CabalVision Inter-regional Blood Bowl League) is a seasonal fluff-heavy league, with regional play, cups and inter-regional ranked play, making use of CRP + SL teams and CRP+ rules, along with some modifications, edits and possible extras. CIBBL uses a unique, personal ruleset.

For more information, see the group HERE.

We are looking for committed reliable coaches to join CIBBL, but your journey is up to you. We are looking for you to join our next Autumn Season, where coaches are facing each other based on earned prestige. Games are on a 10 day cycle.

Maybe you want to create fouling history with goblins? Perhaps you want to chase the longest winning streak in the league? To us the games are important but the stories & rivalries are what make CIBBL unique.

Up for the challenge and willing to embrace the CIBBL universe? Send a PM to C0ddlefish and/or myself if you are interested!

Any questions or comments, please feel free to pop in at our Discord hideout or bring them up in private by PM.

-----------

"Top league to be a part of - really fantastic staff.
The best part; loads of spectators for all your games and if you’re new they will cheer you and boo your opponent all the way!

Great fun - join today!

When that guy pronounced that he had invented Blood Bowl, this is the sort of thing he was envisaging. CIBBL brings the game to life just that bit more with a real feeling of story and history to it, all so well put together and maintained by the CIBBL staff.
Loads of great coaches and loads of different teams make you want every FUMBBL game to be a CIBBL game."
(Sweep12121)

"Best league I've ever been part of!" (Garion)

"Top admin staff and coach community, top tournament structure, top fluff and extras, top new teams and stars...top fun!" (Rbthma)

"CIBBL/BIBBL > Game of Thrones" (The_Carthaginian)

"I think the nicest thing I can say about CIBBL in terms of leagues etc is that I never ever thought I would play in a proper scheduled one. And CIBBL in terms of fumbbl-wide looks to me to have filled a void I didn't even know existed." (ArrestedDevelopment)

"As a new player with no idea what I'm doing, I have found CIBBL to be an exceptionally welcoming and friendly community, regardless of whether it's chattering in the Discord, spectating games (either in real-time or using the new Rewind functionality of the Cabalvision boxes) or losing them. Most fun you can have on FUMBBL!" (datom)

Slaanesh and Tzeentch Teams
It's been almost 5 years since the "Favoured of..." mechanic dropped, and old Gee Wiz managed to make an extra one (Hashut) before giving coaches any reason beyond flavour to pick Undivided, Tzeentch and Slaanesh. In the next edition it might be that some stars turn out to be Undivided to give that a reason to be (excluding them from Khorne and Nurgle and so on) but unless teams for Slaanesh and Tzeentch are released, there probably won't be any god-specific stars either.

Death Zone does not have anything for them either (or for Khorne, for that matter). I forget if the Chaos League or Chaos Cup rules that were released on Spike at some point had something for them...

Here's a wishlist, of sorts, of what I'd like, and maybe I theorise, the two missing teams to end up like.

First let's look at the two existing ones. Both have their own specific lineman, in place of the Chosen Beastman Runner, which becomes a 0-4 positional with an extra skill in tune with the other positionals. The Chosen Blockers receive a Mark and therefore become more specific in both statline and skills. The Big Guy on both counts has the same skill(s) the blockers have, and have something else, unique as a starting skill/combo, on top of that. There's the blueprint!

What Khorne lacks is something similar to the "first kill" mechanic that Nurgle has. I'd like to see that fixed, because it bugs me that beyond star access the rule currently does nothing. Favoured of Khorne teams should instantly receive a free Reroll for the first "Death" casualty the opponent suffers, to be used before the end of the drive. Similarly, Favoured of Chaos Undivided teams should receive a temporary (till the end of the game?) chosen Mutation on a randomly determined player on the first kill the team causes. Favoured of Slaanesh and Favoured of Tzeentch teams I'm not sure about; the first TD scored seems more fitting because of their more subtle nature, so I'd say things like a free reroll, or a free temporary mutation as detailed above for Undivided.

Regarding the teams, I see Slaanesh as an annoying, obstructive team. They should be a tad faster than other chaos teams, and somewhat less armoured. Their linemen, the Cultists, could be run-of-the-mill hobgoblin-like chaps with a Mutation, such as Extra Arms, ideal on and off the pitch due to their cultish rituals. Their goats, the Slaangor, should start with Claws, like the current AoS models and countless classic metal figures. Their blockers, the Thrillseekers, should exchange one point of Armour for one point of Movement, and gain the super-annoying Prehensile Tail. The big guy, which should continue the "SomethingSpawn" pattern from the two released teams (but I've not come up with a decent idea for the name), should also have Prehensile Tail, and Hypnotic Gaze on top of that. Imagine a eldritch horror with a siren scream, a slythering and whirling mass of limbs, piercings, mouths... something out of the Liber Chaotica, with a statline similar to a Rat Ogre, 6/5/4+/-/9+ territory. Animal Savagery would fit the masochistic streak you'd expect from Slaanesh.

Tzeentch is a different beast. I have in mind the lumbering empty suits of space marine armour of 40K, but also the screamers, the flamers, the disc-riding sorcerers of WHFB, and also the Silver Tower range that was turned into a convincing unofficial team with somewhat wacky rules. That team used all the miniatures the Silver Tower box had, and therefore sported a Sorcerer, a Big Guy, Tzaangor and Acolytes, and also little daemons that could split in two mid game. Back when the ruleset was young, a lot of these "mockup teams" circulated the community.

The blockers, tentatively called Lightbringers or Truthseekers, I'd like to be a callback to the Thousand Sons Rubric Marines. Make them slower and sturdier, so MA4 and AV11+. Give them Breathe Fire, now that it's a thing, and because with their third eye shenanigans they can see in the past, the future and the subjunctive, they should have Pro on top of that. The Big Guy, a flightless bird-like Firespawn, should have both of those and the Bombardier skill on top, with a Troll-like statline (4/5/5+/5+/11+) and could be either Bonehead or Really Stupid. This way, both teams have a sneaky cagebusting trick that other chaos teams lack, but less reliable than other teams who have the same mechanics. For their goats, the Tzaangor, Leap plus VLL fits what the new AoS models look like, with their legs ready to spring and the flightless bird theme. Finally the Acolytes, their linemen, could have the same statline as Khorne and Slaanesh linemen, with Big Hand as a callback to the Blue and Pink Horror classic models, in place of the Frenzy and the proposed Extra Arms.

Regarding prices, I reckon 50k for the linemen, 70k for the goats, 110k for the Chosen and 150k for the Big Guys. Rerolls at 60k, for poor Nurgle too. Skill access pretty similar to what already exists, but we could swap in A for S in the Slaanesh team between Primary and Secondary. That should be all. I know other versions exist, but it's fun to speculate. Let me know what you think.
