Reflections on reaching 500 games!
There, I’ve done it! Just shy of a year after my Blood Bowl debut in March of 2018, I’ve hit 500 games… and have a 61/63/376 record to show for it.

I checked out a game I played about 10 games into my career, and I’m pleased to say I don’t play like that anymore. Lots of 1 die blocks, no sense of move order or sensible risks whatsoever, and not even a rudimentary understanding of the importance of blitzing and blocking with your Block players rather than the other ones.

I’ve had a good time these first 500 hours (!) into the game, and tried my hand at many things which have been a lot of fun. Some things that I’ve enjoyed that spring to mind are:

- Lots of friendly coaches at Fumbbl. The coaches who’ve cursed and been rude with me can be counted on two hands, and most people are happy to chat for a bit and have a laugh even when the dice run cold.
- I started out in Ranked and got beat up a lot… 10 games before my first draw, over 40 until my first win… and so many players maimed and killed. It didn’t help that I played the fragile amazons and didn’t have a clue how to protect them, or that I didn’t understand that some of the match-ups I was offered were from players who knew their teams had tackle-mighty blow killers who were perfect for hunting ’zons.
- Despite all that, I had fun playing amazons, and the team development mechanic with skill-ups, SPP’s and different ways to improve the players was very addictive to me.
- About 9 months in I joined the Swedish LÖBBL league, which was a lot of fun. Only about a dozen of my games have been league games, but I’ve enjoyed the good cheer in the Discord channel, written some fluff for my team, and it’s been an interesting different take on the game.
- Have played all 4 elf teams in the E.L.F. meta group, which I highly recommend. Interesting challenge, and a way to increase motivation.
- I’ve filled the grid in Ranked with Amazons, Ogres, and High Elves. Well on the way with the remaining elves and Norse. Also a good challenge for me.
- Had a single Legend, the second greatest Amazon thrower of all time, Shyla. She was too good for this world and was eventually killed beyond salvation even for my apothecary.
- Killed a Legend, the mighty treeman Thursdaynight Guitarclub, with one of my dumb-as-a-doornail ogres.
- On the one hand, I found that I enjoy the long passing game of elves… on the other hand, I’ve started making notes on my player biographies every time one of them kills an opponent (of course including fouls!), and that’s been almost as much fun…
- Many things remain to try out, including the bashy teams, the various brands of dead teams, and of course the players everyone else hates the most, the feared gutter runners… not to mention secret league, et cetera…
- For the past 3 months, have written a match report on pretty much every game that I’ve played. It adds to the experience for me and I rarely spend more than a couple minutes on them.

This is a cool community and an amazing game with a lot of depth and many different flavours to sample and enjoy. I’m glad I found you guys! Cheers!

What a cracking positive blog, and what a smashing chap you sound like. Shame our paths haven't crossed yet but look forward to a game one day. Good stuff!

500 games in less than a year.
That's quite some momentum you got there !
One thing to add to your list : try and have a game vs "famous" teams like Akarenton's zombis, Carlo's foulers (that's a race, you'll see), Zed's flings, and many more who gave some races a part of their aura on Fumbbl.
My all skeletons' team is eager to meet your amazons /wink /wink ...
