You know you want Goblins.

From your profile a couple of races stands out.
Chaos. Not very playable in weekend tourneys.
Underworld. Fun and can be playable in some tourneys, depending on tiers and rules.
Undead. The sure thing. Always playable.
So. Pick one race that you know for sure you want to play!

I tend to borrow for Norse TT tourneys, goblins are awesome though I use that One-Troll build. Would have to make a LoTR theme for that and that could be tough. (One Troll to rule them all!) 'cause you know his Thong would have the symbols of the Ring...

Just be sure to do a "detail check" (print out something similarly sized with fine details) before you go sculpting 14+ models :)

Yea, 3d printers vary, and mostly aren't good at tiny details

What is the "one troll" build? Do you get both fanatics and goblins to 16?

haha not quite, I use it here on the site. 1 troll and all weapons except bomb. usually allows 3 rr and 14-ish players.

I am trying gobs in box: 3-2-3 at the moment, which I am quite pleased with. Bomber is useless, but I have a plan to skill and rinse them through until I get a HMP double.
My fanatic has block and MB which is awesome.
I do like both trolls though for hitting, and now they both have guard it means the gobs can get some punches in too.
Pogoer looked like wasted TV - am I missing a trick?
For tabletop tournies, I was thinking of taking 2 trolls, fanatic, looney, bomber (as you can get a double), fungus, 3 bribes, 3 RRs and goblins to 14. I'm now not sure if that is enough. Maybe I should drop Fungus (or a troll?) for extra goblins?

Hey Pete, you munchkin git ;)
In low tv play, it's possibly more useful to get break tackle on trolls as that keeps the useful/mobile - you don't want the cdork problem of crap marking your bull etc. And while gobs hitting is good, you really want "troll advancing". Still, 2+ on a loner is still another garbage roll, it does help with a desperation ttm in some cases.
If you do a one troll tourney team though, you end up with a lot of options - for one, ripper is cheap and isn't stupid. Fungus is 10k more expensive than a normal fanatic, but has extra MA and mb. Nobbla isn't worth it for TT.
Consider that a fanat is pretty much useless vs elves as well in all this.

I wouldn't recomend Goblins. Unless your friend has a EXPENSIVE printer, thin arms, legs, ears, noses... they make printing hard.
I would recommend something big and beefy for a first run. Something like orcs or muscular norse.
Short and squat would work good, too. So dorfs and chorfs could make a nice team.

I thought this was about a new 3-d board for blood bowl. How epic would that be! Then I got dissapointed.
