Secret League Americas - Season 4 - Builder Division - The Disapperators Week 3
i've heard it said that Nuffle loves the mayhem of a rainy match, so the opening kickoff event changing the weather to pouring rain set an ominous tone for the kicking ethereals. The wet proved no factor in the vampire's ability to handle the ball, and the first turn ended with the two teams staring across at each other near midfield. Scarlet Kisses made efficient use of their hypnotic gaze and a few blocks and moved the ball to the bottom of the pitch, and the ghosts countered with moves shifting the wraiths and banshees to block the vampire's advance, but were unable to completely disengage from the thralls when the loner ghost failed its dodge. spirit hosts were quickly knocked down and the Kissers sealed the top portion of the pitch off before passing the ball to Khalida with no issues in the downpour. The turn ended in a strange manner, with Khalida running off into the crowd to feed instead of feasting on one of the two thralls standing next to her (Xelron had an interface issue, when he canceled the thrall selection it ended his turn, didn't allow him to go back into movement), and the ball was lying on the rain covered ground.

the Disapperators were unable to take advantage of the ball laying on the pitch, and Matilda's failed leap (reroll was used in the block action prior to prevent turnover) ended the turn with no ethereals around the ball. The Kissers were able to block back the ethereal advance, and Vasilisa collected the ball and attempted to pass it to Sabrina, who was unable to catch the ball despite her Pro-ness, and the ball lay behind a spirit host for the Disapperators to grab. the ghosts returned to their feet and pushed the thralls around a bit before Winifred botched the ball grab, but Crezgan the twisted snatched it as the midway point of the first half ended.

The Kissers were easily able to blitz the wraith and pop the ball free, and a knockout to a spirit host left the ethereal team down on numbers and pretty well surrounded by vampires and their thralls. sishun haka dodged away from the scrum, collected the ball and headed towards the endzone. an inertial damper magic item card was activated on him, reducing the effectiveness of any blitz on the ballcarrier. Winifred was able to dodge away and mark the ballcarrier (failed to hypnotic gaze tho), and a spirit host disengaged and was able to mark haka as well, but the dodge away from Horat the restless failed, leaving the ethereals no choice but to activate their pit trap, knocking sishun haka down and popping the ball free once more. The Kissers used hypnotic gaze to a devastating effect, freeing thralls and setting up two die blocks that knocked the vampires free. the spirit host in contact with Haka and the ball was hypnotized, and haka got up, dodged away from Wini and grabbed the ball, runs back by Wini dodging away, and succeeds with 2 go for its to score in turn 6.

the two babes helped the KOd spirit host return to the pitch, but an aggressive setup by the ethereals backfired when the Blitz event occurred. Khalida failed to catch the ball, and Wini was able to hypnotize the vampire, but a failed block by a wraith ended the ghost's turn early, and all momentum shifted to the vampires. Winifred was hypnotized by the vamp she'd bewildered, and Matilda was knocked to the ground from a blitz. bakhud khahred failed to pick up the ball, and with two turns left in the half for the ghosts it didn't look pretty. The wraiths unleashed their touches of death, Baztraith failing to affect Vasilisa, but Dzurgen's broke Sabrina's armor for a CAS (niggling APO to BH). a spirit host dodged away from the line to help protect the ball, and Horat was able to break the armor of haka, but could only stun him. a failed dodge by a spirit host heading back to provide an assist on Khalida ended the ethereal's turn early again (dodge was a CAS that regenerated), and the Kissers would take advantage with a score before halftime. Matilda succeeded on a pass only to have winifred drop it to end the half.

The Blitz event to start the second half sealed the game for the Kissers with the CAS to Dzurgen (MNG on +1 AG wraith), and a Vamp catching the ball in the rain. i don't care to go over that half, as it was just another long string of bad dice for my team. only gained 5 SPP from the whole match, via MVP. That kinda game...

Great write-up again! Hopefully you'll get some better dice next game :)

Thanks! This season is all about getting the team built up, i'd have liked to have been a bit more competitive during these opening matches, but no perm injuries and the possibility of getting the start of a bench after the next game puts me in a pretty good spot overall. (i'm forcing myself to listen to the advice i gave my son and nephew when starting SLA, 'first season is about building your team, after that you can worry about being competitive.')

This match i scratched up as an L at the start of the season because his vamps are far more skilled up than my wraiths and banshees. i'm hoping that i'll catch fire in the back half of the season, but i'm not gonna hold my breath or anything... lol
