"Wrong place, wrong time" and "in a blind spot"
This is what the police told me when I woke up.
Never before have 8 words caused me so much conflicted emotion. At first I felt completely helpless. I was in a hospital (which I hate), my knee had to be rebuilt, I had 16 screws in my leg and had been in a medically induced coma. Then pure rage as it was unlikely that I would ever get justice for what had happened.
No witnesses, no CCTV, no memory. Just one question going endlessly through my head, what the hell happened?
Looks like I may never get an answer but I will always have my reminders, for example I will never get through a metal detector without setting it off again.
I guess this blog is just my way of saying I'm back. Wont get much time to play over the next few weeks but I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone ruin me. Lots of rehab to look forward to and sport is pretty much closed off to me now but it's time to get back into the world.
Apologies to all the leagues I've let down and PM's have been sent to each commish.
The sooner I can get rid of this damn wheelchair and back on my feet the better.......

Actually it's best to let go of the rage & turn it into simple determination to climb back out of the hole & put yourself back together. Betting you understand that by your comments. Take it from Rocky: 'It's not about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit & keep moving forward.' Rage is unhealthy, but motivation is contagious. All the best man. Hang in there & you WILL be back.

as a non-british, seems to be that the government put so much emphasis on giving a perception of safety (internet censorship, absurd speed limits, weird contracts) and then loses ground worst than a thrid world dictatorship when the citizen *really* needs it.
c'mon, I can be tracked if I want to see a boob and then when shit happens "we are very sorry but it was a unfortunate coincidence".

The blind spot was that even with the CCTV cameras that were around none of them could see me. Last thing I remember is locking up the shop and walking towards where I parked my car. Woke up in hospital 13 days later.

13 days... that must have been really tough on your family. I am really sorry to hear what happened to you, but also happy to hear, considering how bad it was, that you are awake and ready to FUMBBL! I'm just glad you seem to be on the mend.
