Nurgle Experiment
Look at my profile and you'll see that I play to win. It is absoulutely my foremost goal when playing BB.

So, I started a Nurgle team and planned on taking Block as the first skill with my NW. I believe it to be the obvious choice in terms of winning, as Nurgle strategy isn't particularly difficult to figure out. After the first few games I realized how long it would take to build a formidable NW so I went against my instinct. Given the large amounts of av9 teams in the box I decided to give my first two NW Claw-MB-Block in that order and the next two NW will get Block-Guard-MB. I'm interested in seeing how fast the development among the two different devlopment groups goes and how it will affect my winning as the Claw-MB without Block will be an obvious RR waster.

I'll let ya'll know how it goes. Gimme your thoughts...crazy to go without Block on first skill?

I should qualify this entry with the disclaimer that this is my first real attempt at a Nurgle team

It's hardly crazy, but you've got the skills in the wrong order, IMO. Mighty Blow is better than claw in general because it is equally effective against AV9, 8, 7. Claw only carries full weight against AV9 targets, but in Blackbox there are plenty of AV8 targets as well. I would go MB - Claw - Block.

yes

and make at least one pomber out of a pestigor.

I concur with the 2 gentlemen below. Also, depening on how fast the team is developing, you may consider the order as Block/MB/Guard on the 2 with Block first. Block/MB will help them get to the 3rd skill faster, since unlike Chaos Warriors these guys won't be scoring many TDs or throwing T8/T16 passes for cheap SPP. Just a thought.

Try tentacles. Nurgle warriors are better suited for taking hits and holding opponents while your pestigors deal out damage. And then agility teams (which do exist in the box) won't get an autowin against you.

it's ok to have a dedicated damage dealer. Going massively the no-block path can be dangerous though.

I like the NWs as grinders. Block/Guard/MB, with Dodge on Doubles. A ST4/av9/Blodge/regen/FA guy is very likely to stick around for the whole game. Stick em in the fray and let MB do some work for you. Claw would be a later skill pick for me, and I might take Tackle over PO for them. I know people have success with Clawpomb NWs, but I think it's better suited to pestigors.

Now if only my OWN pestigors would stop rolling stats long enough to skill up dangerously, I might get somewhere... (2x +AG pests, 1x +ST, 4th is working on being useful)
