Scandal engulfed the Mary's Land Terrible Terrapins' latest match against the LSU Ragin' Cajun's, falling to the Cajun's 3-1. While the loss is another blow to coach Lancelott's credibility and makes the road to the offseason all the more challenging, it was the start of the game that captured the most drama and controversy. As the Cajun's started to move the ball at the start of the game, a rogue wizard bolted out from the stands, throwing fireballs and carrying a sign that read "FIRE COACH LANCELOTT!!!". It is well known that game wizards are expressly forbidden in the NCBB, many questioned how such an individual was able to sneak into the stands in the first place. Although the fireballs slightly slowed down the Cajun's drive, there was no lasting damage done and the wizard was quickly tackled by the campus security and beaten into submission.
A crazed wizard races onto the field at the start of the match
The Terrapins, evidently shocked by the turn of events, put up a paltry defense to the Cajun's first drive. With rookie saurus Jase Germantown
(major - physics) and Mary Bethesda
(major - mathematics) on the front line, gap integrity was woefully lacking and the experienced offense of the Cajun's quickly took advantage. This was further exacerbated when Hayden Laurel
(Sophomore - major - undecided) went down with a career ending ankle injury, removing the third experienced saurus in just the first two games of the season. While Hayden was replaced quickly after the game with rookie saurus Frances Fredrick
(major - undecided), there are now a total of three new saurus blockers in the competitive SMACK division.
The lone bright spots of the game for the Terrapins was the play of red shirt chameleon skink freshman, O. Shean City
(major - undecided) who had both a completion and the Terrapins lone touchdown. While David Damascus, the team's star chameleon skink, usually hogs the spotlight, it was O. Shean who was provided the only offense for the team. Many are seeing O. Shean as a needed piece to push David to continue to improve his game, the latter going down to an injury that will have him miss time. Many wonder if David's fame has gone to his head as his movements looked sluggish on the field and rumors of wild skink parties have enveloped the campus. Additionally, the usually reliable Harmony One-Love spent much of the game looking confused at the coach's shouted commands, and while she threw a successful injurious block against LSU's Eddie Robinson, her play largely hurt the Terrapins chances of coming back at the end.
Coach Lancelott taking questions post game
Coach Lan(c)elott was swarmed by reporters at the end of the game, asking if he was going to step down as well as comments on the (not so) covert attempt of boosters to oust him from his position. Coach Lancelott would only reply, "The boosters who want me gone should be ashamed. Sending a wizard on the field to try and win a college game? Despicable. That is not how this team plays and not how we win." Time will tell if the coach is able to bring this season back around.
