The last of the great have fallen.
Five days ago, the Lizards were one game away from being ready for the Warpstone Open. The Skinks had everything they needed (OTS, 2 DPs, +AG), the Sauri were looking the best they'd ever looked. The Krox was the only issue; although he was block, guard, an amazing combination for a big guy, he was also MNG'd. As well as an amazing set of players, the Lizards were at their peak of 27 FF (now 22 and slowly dropping.) The Lizards needed just one more game and then they would be ready. Five days ago,Calcium initiated the beginning of the end of the Lizard's attempt at glory in the Warpstone Open. Today, Stuelle2 has finished the destruction of the great six sauri in a game with his Vampires.

This blog post is not in any way a complain blog (my previous two blogs had moments...or maybe more than just moments...of complaint in them.) Instead, this blog is to be a memorial dedicated to the six best sauri the team has ever seen at once. At the time of greatness, they were:

#2 The Seventh Biggest Lizard - Block, Guard, Mighty Blow, Frenzy, Break Tackle - Aged (niggle)

#3 The Ninth Strongest Lizard - Dodge, +ST, Block, Break Tackle - Niggled

#4 The Eleventh Baddest Lizard - Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Break Tackle, Guard, Kick - Killed

#5 The Sixth Stupidest Lizard - Block, Break Tackle, Tackle (-av) - Aged (niggle)

#6 The Twelfth Angriest Lizard - Block, Guard - Killed

#7 The Tenth Meanest Lizard - Dodge, Block (-ag) - Killed

As well as these six amazing sauri, the Lizards had:

#1 The "Great Yumtum" Papa Lizard - Mighty Blow, Thick Skull, Prehensile Tail, Bone Head, Big Guy, Block, Guard - Active

#8 The Eleventh Smallest Lizard - Dodge, Stunty, Dirty Player, +MA, +MA, Sure Feet (-av) - Active

#10 The Twentieth Fastest Lizard - Dodge, Stunty, +MA, +AG - Killed

#11 The Twenty-First Trickiest Lizard - Dodge, Stunty, Dirty Player - Active

6 amazing sauri, block+guard Krox, 2 DPs (one MA10), and a AG4, MA9 skink. It was the best I have ever seen my Lizards, and it has been almost completely destroyed.

I can feel the drag by my DP, MA10 skink, and will likely fire him soon, if Nuffle doesn't do it for me. He is really nice, but is expensive for a skink (I prefer to keep my TR/TS on the sauri.) One thing keeping him on the team is his records, both as the oldest player in team history (amazing for a -AV skink who doesn't have apoth privileges) and in Lizardman Top 10 rankings.

Where will the Lizards go now, I'm wondering. The team looks pretty weak for 178 TR, and the excessive cash on hand just gives our opponents an advantage. We're no where close to tournament ready, and with such high recent losses, it will probably be quite a while before we are.

I am in now way concerned with the Lizard's survival. As far as that's concerned, the team is doing great. We've got our full 13 players, all the positions, tons of cash, and really nice FF. The team will survive, even if our best players just can't quite stay alive.

Long live the Yumtum! Long enough for me to kill them....

Love you Windex! (Rated 6 for the love)

Well, as a player who has submitted a team for the WO...WHEW! Had that last prep game gone the way you had hoped and you'd entered the team in as you were planning...well, lets just say I wouldn't like my chances against them.

So here's a hopelessly and tactlessly self-centered HOORAY! for lots of dead and injured lizards.

You hadn't said anything about how awesome your skinks were. It makes your misfortune suck so much more. My condolences.

Now get them ready for the Ulthuan.

Keep em going!

Get em into the best shape you can manage and enter 'em anyway. The Lizards are an iconic team of the sort that ought to be in the majors. If you manage to work your way through a qualifier or win a randomly-drawn bid to the finals, you'll get another 3 games to round them into shape.

Also, you might want to go light on the chaos/khemri/CD games in the last few days of prep. Props for bravery, but those av7 stunties don't take well to massive damage. (then again, your av9 guys don't seem to lately either).

Oh, I do plan on entering them. They were born out of the Warpstone Open (through the destruction of my Norse :P ) so they will definitely be making an appearance.

I think you may have a point, maysrill. Since the 'beginning of the end,' I've played vs
Elves: 2
Skaven: 2
(chaos) Dorfs: 4
Chaos/Orc: 2
Ogre: 3
as well as a team of Khemri, Rotters (they killed two of my Sauri) and vampires (You can see above what they did :P )

Actually, now that I think about it...the four in game sauri losses were vs Elves, Rotters, and Vampires...not exactly the most ruthless teams (okay, rotters *do* get claws.) Maybe I should stick on ONLY the dwarves, chaos, orcs, khemri
