Wäŋa Warriors Ascendancy: Prologue
I really like going back on my blog and reading my Lizardman team building strategy that I used to write for the rulebook 4.0, even though they are pretty worthless now. When I decided to get back into SWL (the aussie perpetual league) the Lizards were maxed out of their quota, so I took Orcs. Until season 62 when I won it, the Orcs had never won a title before. So I thought I would write a passage about the team building and my thought process behind it, and how it evolved into the side that took the title, and what happened from there.

So how good of a coach am I? If I had to rate myself out of 10, I think I would be a 7/10. But how does one rate themselves?
- I'm 154.55 currently
- My high was 164.38, this all being said, I don't play ranked that often
- My record with Lizards in ranked is 140/49/107. (Though 90% of that is in 4.0 and although Lizzies were only slightly worse off in 4.0 when the wheels fell off in 4.0 you were looking at a lot of losses before you were 11 players again).

In terms of my SWL (aussie) league I have had many people comment that I was a bit average, and perhaps wouldn't do very well in Premier, if I ever made it. And I had to agree at the time. When I spectate games I often see coaches do things that I didn't think of. My two weaknesses is getting too caught up in blocking to protect the ball, and protecting the ball from deep kicks or failed pick ups. Things I'm working on.

Anyway...

So how did I win? It was a combination of three things:
1) During the season my dice were pretty good. (It is a 7 game season so no one can really win it with poor dice)
2) I rolled some key stats on my players, that I will go into later
3) My team was built very well.

And this is going to be the crux of these entries, although you cannot control (1) and (2), someone like me was able to challenge due to (3) - how I built my side.

So since I am going to be completely honest in this, when it comes to building a side I think I am very good. I know how skills fit together, to see things about certain builds. Whilst nothing is new under the blood bowl sun, I was able to win the title with an Orc build that was fairly unusual.

Next time: As a rookie Orc Coach, how my theories on the build looked

looking foreward to your next writing, as I play some orcs myself.
