Thought on definition of "overpowered"
From http://www.middle-ages.org.uk/crossbow.htm

"The medieval Knight was the most powerful and effective warrior and said to be worth 10 foot soldiers, often just peasants who were regarded with the lowest esteem and considered expendable. The crossbow could be used by an untrained soldier to injure or kill a knight in plate armour. The crossbow, itself, was therefore viewed as an inhuman weapon which required no skill and had no honour. It was even banned by the Pope!"

The Pope unbanned it when it was thought that crossbows were awfully neat when it came to killing the Saracens during the crusades... Aw, Popes, so fickle sometimes!

The knight is the clawpomb-player and the crossbow the lrb4 dirty player.

The ogre is the new knight.

For the record, a University of Auckland study has recently shown that perhaps plate armour wasn't the greatest thing....
The extra effort it took to move while wearing it may have actually lead to the defeat of the side with the most knights in some cases.

Also, gay people wearing condoms > knights carrying crossbows

@rooke: "The Pope unbanned it when it was thought that crossbows were awfully neat when it came to killing the Saracens during the crusades... Aw, Popes, so fickle sometimes!"

What I read said that he just banned "the use of crossbows vs. Christians", directly leaving space for all that crusade stuff...
