Playing Multiple Games at same time.
Just a quick reminder to everyone - you are not allowed to play multiple games at the same time under the site rules. So please do not disrespect your opponents by playing one blackbox game then activating for another while the first one is not finished. Please read the site rules and follow them. As usual - common sense and respecting your opponent goes a long way towards making sure everyone has an enjoyable time here.

Thank you.

you are allowed to IF BOTH OPPONENTS agree.

but yeah, not without asking people.
Posted by ArrestedDevelopment on 2016-02-09 18:07:48
How can you ask an unknown opponent? You can't. If you activate while already playing - you're putting the potential second opponent on the spot and forcing them to acquiesce to your intentions or sit around waiting/get unscheduled, missing the next draw.

Either situation isn't satisfactory in truth.

Trick with having both opponents agree is that it cannot happen within the box. You get scheduled with someone randomly so unless you have already gotten permission from all 3+ people in the cube (which you wouldn't know who or if its true) AND permission from your current opponent before even trying this... then you can't/don't.

Not to mention its rude and splits your focus/time resulting in two very poor and slow games.

I have personally played a few (very few) double headers. These were only in league, and agreed to in IRC with my opponents together because there was no other time slot available for anyone.

Again, League. Also, my personal opinion.

I reported a coach for doing this in a league I was in and got him banned for a week. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Don't be a fiend and I won't be an ass. Well... I might be an ass for a different reason... but not for that, anyway.

Let's all just hug.

Peace, Love, and Chicken Grease!

(Also, per the original point, be respectful of your fellow coaches & don't be a huge douche.)

I play multiple games at once. I don't see a problem with it. I play Blood Bowl, Angry Birds, Mind Games, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Clue, Talisman, 40k, World of Tanks, Cos play. I don't see how this is douchey.

I have done it before but usually can pull it off.

You have to let your opponent know though. That's the very least you can do.

It can be very annoying also if someone seems to take a long time to do their turn or respond to prompts, and then when you ask why they say they are playing another game or browsing some websites etc in your turn. Very disrespectful.
Posted by Chainsaw on 2016-02-10 02:31:06
It depends gary. I'd argue that taking 3-4 minutes every turn is disrespectful. I will end up looking at other things to pass the time if my opponent plays at that pace.

I've played some people who seemed like they were playing 5 games at once with the speed they did things......
Posted by Wreckage on 2016-02-10 03:13:19
I almost never give a game my full attention. The only exception when my opponent talks a lot. I do however completely respect the site rules and would never play two BB games at the same time. :)
Exceptions of course... there have been one or two situations where an opponent left and I tried to get another game, ending up in places where playing both games at once was the more polite thing to do. In these cases I'd of course always get permissions and can say it was in each of these two events granted a rather discontent permission but think ultimatively played faster in the end than I usually do. :)

I do usually have 2 games of Star Wars Commander going on laptop & phone, plus watching Netflix, and usually talking to my wife & kids. But I still keep my turns under 2 minutes. I think if you can keep it under 2 minutes, you're fine

But..

You can't do 2 box games, because they can't consent to that ahead of time, which is a violation.
Posted by garyt1 on 2016-02-10 16:50:07
Chainsaw if you can see someone is making moves throughout the 3-4 mins, just slowly, it is because they are thinking about their moves. In a way that is respectful to you. Probably also they don't play BB games every day. But when someone doesn't do anything for 2 mins clearly they are doing something else.
Posted by Bloodfeast on 2016-02-10 17:48:21
Didnt know it was illegal since I have seen it a couple a times a week. Thought about doing it myself but I can hardly play 1 game at the time so...... ;)
Posted by Semitence on 2016-02-10 23:04:22
Not really Gary. Often I take a min or two to structure my turn, then play the actual turn out in a minute.
Posted by the_Sage on 2016-02-12 11:20:35
Both opponents agreeing in ranked was a lot easier when matchmaking still involved communication.
Posted by the_Sage on 2016-02-12 11:22:51
I don't actually enjoy playing 2 games of BB at once, it stresses me out, I started mixing up players and strategies. If I accidentally wind up in this situation (it's happened maybe 3-5 times in 3000 games), I tell my opponents this is the case, and ask if they're ok with it. If not, I'll propose to reschedule.
