Hope he gets well soon. The amount of damage I did to my wrists, ankles, head, etc. from skateboarding is a rather long list. ...Ahh, the good old days when we were young.

Somehow I never broke any bones despite the 30+ concussions I got from BMXing, snowboarding, wrestling and numerous other things I was involved. I think all my friends broke something over the years of our shenanigans. But yeah, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. You just need to be there when it does happen! Hopefully he has a speedy recovery!

Well I've never picked up any injuries playing football ( soccer, not your American Handegg ;) ), basketball, BMX-ing etc, but i did break most of my foot after getting it trapped in a door, my whole foot went blue-black (which i spotted at the next day's footy practice after not realising anything was wrong, it was just numb) and i hobbled to hospital. I'm much better now, though my pinkie toe sticks out at an odd angle. The moral of the story? Indoors is much worse!

joking aside, hop he has a speedy recovery and gets well soon.

I wish him mate, our youngest (Squigkey) broke 9 bones in his short life... fortunately most were done at school so we avoided all the awkward questions...

They will start becoming that crazy eventually in western industrial societies. Just recently i watched a german comedian on television on the topic of the social phenomena of overprotecting and overcaring parents here in germany (we teach our fetuses mandarin f.i.). The kid's name in the program was "Marvin" and the poor boy had to put up with quite some funny stuff...

Anyway...one of the next days i get out to, probably go shopping or other dubious stuff citizens of a city do, and just when i passed the library that also has a public school nearby, i also pass 2 middle aged mums having a little chat for means of relaxation standing in the middle of the street, getting all grounded and stuff. So the dialogue continues...

and suddenly one of her goes: "Well, Marvin has an UV-Shirt now...and he needs it also!"

Well it goes without saying that the comedians "Marvin" also needed a UV-shirt.

Now does this make the parents comedians then? Not even funny anymore you say?
One thing is for sure though, if reality has become its own parody, then something is seriously funny.

On a even more serious note, we may need beauty like soil the water, but:
dont count on women to make rational decisions in times of great crisis! Just wont happen (put it down on a piece of paper and put in your wallet beside the photo of your loved one). Period.

Another serious attempt...if wifey may indeed go nuts on the boys and your nerves (i mean, it might really be the case, they are women after all - right!?): putting wheels under your feet for some kicks and tricks is something that combines little societal reward with great ivestment. Ultimately ive come to find there are better things indeed that may involve that sort of risk but more societal reward. If it should be a real problem, maybe that would be a way.

I wish your boy a good recover in any case!

if extra arms give +1 to catch the ball, during the recovery will he suffer a -1 penalty to pick up, catch or intercept the ball?

If a daughter gets hurt, the wife (and mother in law) backlash is 5 times as bad. Sorry a bit off topic... You just reminded me of a nightmare I am experiencing. Like experiencing this evening.

A 4 year old girl with a black and blue shiner below her eye makes the women into crazies. I just keep rubbing my eyes hoping it will all go away.

Sucks mate. You shouldn't keep them indoors or away from their decks. You CAN, however, get them some good protective gear and hope they're willing to wear it. Good luck.

I once broke a wrist after falling off my bike, when about 12, and my friend thought I was exaggerating and proceeded to give me a chinese burn. Ouch!
After doing my paper round the next day I finally gave up toughing it out and thought better get it checked out.
What could my parents have done about this? Stopped me from cycling and stopped me from seeing friends. Would not have been a good solution..
