Suck it up princess
Dr Small says many of you coaches could use a teaspoon of cement to harden up.

The game is bloodbowl, not pattycake. I am going to hurt many of your players, accept it and stop getting too attached to your players.

My games get a lot of spectators. I suspect many of you are hoping to see my clawpombers die. 2 have in my last 3 games, stupid APO. Only 1 left to kill now. I'm sure there are plenty of you that enjoy seeing the blood.

I wish everyone was allowed to name and shame me, as I am not the least bit sensitive about what people I've never met say about me, but I respect that we don't get to make the rules, so we should ALL follow them and not waste admins time.

The only solution to YOUR problem I see is a change to the blackbox forumla. Which I am all for. I will adapt to the change to develop the most competitive team possible, and then laugh when you call for a new change to the forumla :)

Maybe you need to ask Christer under what circumstances he would be willing to change it, if at all. Maybe a petition with enough people wanting a change, then 2 or 3 suggestions that everyone votes on.

I recently sent Christer a message explaining how I am widely disliked for both my slow play and brutal minmax Pact team and the opportunity to have me voluntarily retire. My message ended:

Fumbbl is your baby, and I can understand you wanting to see it thrive. If this means you would prefer I retire from Fumbbl, I will certainly oblige due to my respect for you.

His reply was that min/max is not against the rules, and if he wanted me to leave I would know.

So, I'm here to stay princesses. Deal with it.

Haha, if anything losing two clawPOMBers makes the team even scarier. It's at 1020, that single guy will be obliterating brand new teams.

Some one needs to grow some balls instead of taking advantage of CRaP rules and OP combo!
Posted by huff on 2013-06-24 08:57:08
you just named and shamed Big C!

and hard to get attached to players when it is their first time taking the field.

So smallman what is it that you get out of these games?
Posted by B_SIDE on 2013-06-24 08:57:55
FUMBBL is both a community and a competition. We all emphasize these aspects to different degrees. On one end of the spectrum are, for example, many L players, who intentionally make crazy themed teams and stupid plays so they can laugh along with their opponents. On the other end of the spectrum are the hyper-competitive blackbox min-maxers who relentlessly pummel their opponents into the pitch. Most coaches fit somewhere in between.

One should not be surprised if the min-max coaches think of some other players as a joke. Similarly, min-maxers are often viewed as a nuisance by much of the of the FUMBBL community. This effect is magnified by the fact that the most active members of forums and chat are typically those who are most interested in the social, rather than the competitive, aspects of the game.

You're a little munchkin. I'm a pretty princess. Who cares? When I see you in blackbox, I'll wish you GL HF just like I do anyone else, and then I'll do my best to win. I expect you'll do the same.

"prefer intense strategy over thoughtless fast play." I LOLed so hard.

Changing the formula would be good but a simpler short term solution springs to mind.

This should be fun watching it develop.

You're sending out conflicting messages though. In your profile you wrote

"For Ranked I like to focus on developing my teams so I'm unlikely to have much dirtyplayer, and generally I avoid teams with 2 dp."

Which suggests at some point you didn't like teams builds that destroyed other teams. Now you've taken that strategy and made it far worse.

And now you are are saying this

"The game is bloodbowl, not pattycake. I am going to hurt many of your players, accept it and stop getting too attached to your players."

Conflicted? Hypocritical? A Change of values? What ever the case you are not sympathetic to the type of character who wrote that on your profile, who plays in the box environment. So what does that say about you?

There is no laws about farting by the dining table, but...its not nice.
Posted by smallman on 2013-06-24 10:48:03
Profile was very old from LR4 days where I pretty much only played with agility teams. Unfortunately Pact are now the best, and the other races don't cut it anymore. Profile now updated.
Posted by harvestmouse on 2013-06-24 10:56:57
That isn't the point though is it? The anti crippling philosophy is very much that of a coach with little experience, and being pounded by more experienced coaches is what can drive them away.

You, as a less experienced coach expressed your dislike for such activity. However you are now doing something similar, but on a higher level. At your target TV, you are also encountering a lot of new/newer coaches, who most likely have the same/similar outlook as you did back then.
Posted by koadah on 2013-06-24 11:15:47
Pact are only the best if you pick on rookie teams and/or aggressively min/max.

Is that the full text of Christer's respone?

Saying that you don't want a person to leave the site is not the same as saying that you think that preying on rookie teams is fine.

The rules say

"Coaches are expected to play reasonably balanced games. Play against lower rated teams is allowed, but should not be abused. It is understood that sometimes teams need a recovery game against a lower ranked team after a particuarly bloody game, but excessive play against lower ranked teams creates an unfair advantage and will not be tolerated."

They seem a bit out of date to me. Talk of 'ranked' and 'rated'?
I don't think that you are aiming to play "reasonably balanced games." I don't think that you expect your opponents to be of similar strength.

But, well... I suppose if 'competitive' means aim for the most wins or highest CR then you are on the right track.
Posted by brain01 on 2013-06-24 12:21:12
hes just like a cherrypicker. play your easy match and win a lot sir, you are so skilled!!

just a tip: if you want kill important player you have to play on higher TV nobody cares about a rookie...but you have to play vs a team skilled like your...ah thats the problem..

and shame on you for making paulhicks upset!!

Why not join SWL champ, see how the big boys play.
Posted by Jeffro on 2013-06-24 13:41:26
I don't think his philosophy has changed as much as you think, harvestmouse... he was looking to avoid competition that would have decent odds at hurting his players before, and he's doing the same now. Before it was by avoiding certain skills on the opposition, and now it's by avoiding developed teams.

Seems consistent from that standpoint.

Pact are only the best as you can game the system to a massive extent to artificially increase your CR and win %.

If they are really that good show me a pact team that has won a major.

"Fumbbl is your baby, and I can understand you wanting to see it thrive. If this means you would prefer I retire from Fumbbl, I will certainly oblige due to my respect for you."

Poor Christer have to deal with messages such as this.
Posted by Jeffro on 2013-06-24 15:39:07
... though when was the last time you played anything other than your "smallnutz" squad?...

Methinks you could use a spoonful of that cement yourself ;)

You are a griefer under the Camping, PK, and Progress definitions. You camp unprepared low-TV teams, which farms you SPPs and destroys others' team progress and decreases their enjoyment of the site. If the Pact roster was even semi-balanced you would get more sympathy, but it is clear that it is broken and highly expoitable, thus you are in essence exploiting a flaw in the system.

Griefer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A griefer is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and harasses other players within the game, using aspects of the game in unintended ways.[1] A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users, and as such is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities, since griefers often cannot be deterred by penalties related to in-game goals.[2]

In the culture of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) in Taiwan, such as Lineage, griefers are known as "white-eyed" — a metaphor meaning that their eyes have no pupils and so they look without seeing. The behaviours which cause players to be stigmatized in this way include cursing, cheating, stealing and unreasonable killing.[3]

Methods[edit]
Exact griefing methods differ from game to game, an act of griefing in an area of one game may be an intended function or mechanic of another game or the same game in another "area". Common methods may include but are not limited to:
- Player killing in games that do not have areas or options to limit such actions.[6] This does not include games that are designed with constant player combat in mind.
- Any methods of reversing another player's progress, such as randomly destroying other players' creations in Minecraft or Terraria.
- Purposeful violation of server policies.
- Kill stealing, denying another player the pleasure or gain of killing a target that should have been theirs.
- Camping at a corpse or spawn area to repeatedly kill players as they resurrect, thus keeping them from being able to play.
Acting out-of-character in a role-play setting to disrupt the serious gameplay of others.

Industry response[edit]
Many subscription-based games actively oppose griefers, since their behavior can drive away business.[15]

Smallman is definitely the best nickname ever for you :D

...too bad you will never understand.

I like what fidius had to say. Minmaxing in the Box is Camping.

This!!

Quote "Camping at a corpse or spawn area to repeatedly kill players as they resurrect, thus keeping them from being able to play"

This is exactly what you do.

How can you be amused by it!?

Rarely does an online name so perfectly describe a player.
Posted by smallman on 2013-06-25 09:54:22
I'm sure a lot of the questions aren't serious, but I'll answer them anyway.

Christer didn't say anything else. Never been kicked out of anything, don't know what babbl is. Most of my games haven't been minmax, had team up to 2.25 mil TV until started taking many injuries. Wasn't until I got down to 137 TV where a tool carried on all game about me doing minmax when I wasn't, so decided if I'm going to listen to such trash, I might as well just do it, so I dropped my ST4 Blodge guard Standfirm guy and my rerolls. I've since been trying to get 3 scary guys, at the same time managing TV to be competitive. I got to 1.23 mill TV again recently, but 2 scary guys died, so likely to be minmax again for a while. Ultimately I want to develop the team I just updated on my profile.

My surname is Small.

So is it small man syndrome? Why do you have to stack the deck in your favour? I just don't understand your motivations and/or thinking.
Posted by Jackamon on 2013-06-27 05:57:52
Enjoy putting new players off with your negative actions. Try to put yourself in someone else's shoes. For me personally I like my opponents to have fun as well.
Even if you aren't breaking rules you are ruining other peoples enjoyment.
Posted by smallman on 2013-06-27 14:10:34
Appreciate you saying something sensible Jackamon, had already considered. Currently annoying the rude ppl on Fumbbl is more important to me. Hopefully the rudeness will die down and I can focus fully on building up the dream team on my profile.

probably you're the worst bloodbowl coach out here, nonetheless the worst player on the site, judging also from your gracious answers.

:D
