Khorne and Bretonnians
So with the NAF firmly establishing Khorne and Bretonnians (they are tournament legal in all formats I have seen) can we get these teams in Ranked and Blackbox? I would like the opportunity to play with and against these teams so I am not taken off guard when I play against them on table top. Thanks to those that make the decisions around here, and even if the suggestion isn't taken I would hope that it could be discussed and thought about again. Thanks

They have been in the league division for a long time. Jus' sayin'.

In case people don't know... You don't have to be in a league to play in the League division.

Gamefinder still works, though more slowly.

I support putting the teams in box n ranked. if they are naf tournament legal teams,, thanks

I believe theyre still optional in NAF and not fully legal.

The phrase is ‘NAF Recommended’. There have been a handful of tournaments since BB2016 that only wanted to play with the 23 GW teams (including events at GW), so Slann, DoK and Brets are not mandatory to cater to these TOs. In practice, 99.9 % of events welcome them.

Not forwarding an opinion on what FUMBBL should do, just clearing up the status of these teams, NAF wise.

Christer commented on this in a blog some while back.

My own personal view on this hasn't changed - no, please no. Keep them to L for the time being.

We're currently swimming in waters of confusion for anyone who is new to Bloodbowl and entering any one of about 4-5 (at a minimum) possible arenas to play. The rules used on Cyanide, FUMBBL, NAF and Tabletop league play all differ to various degrees. And then we have to consider what I have just called table top league play will include endless variations of the published rules - optional and core.

The hope is that a newcomer to FUMBBL would not be too confused by the differences between his bb2016/Headcoach's handbook and the rules played by on the site... Do we really need to present them with three unofficial rosters in the main divisions (I include Slann as the third here btw)?

GW continue to roll out rules, print collected resources (the coaches' handbook), publish errata and release spikes with rosters/stars etc. There appears to be absolutely zero likelihood of them changing the stance JT-Y presented on Brets/Khorne before: "never".

Those releases of stars incidentally affect the Khorne/Brets rosters as well, making them to me, even more homebrew as they pick up stars that weren't ever really considered for their rosters. Slann also get stung by this as they will lose Stars from CRP and decisions will need to be made in a vacuum on that roster by the NAF at some point.

At some point Christer may very well need to decide whether to follow the NAF or GW more closely, but while the ruleset isn't complete, it would seem somewhat premature to cross the rubicon.

No please no.

The rules makers have said these are not official and will not become official.
Posted by Mattius on 2019-10-12 10:30:41
For me yes. I can only see it as a good thing for the site. It can only attract more people to play. Both rosters are reasonable.

Same opinion as Mattius. Some tabletop coaches who play Khorne/Brets would come to FUMBBL to play them. Their opponents would learn to play against them (and rookies who learn to play Blood Bowl in Ranked division could still avoid to play vs Khorne/Brets if they don't know how to play vs these rosters).

No.
Posted by Garion on 2019-10-12 17:32:31
the rosters are available in the league division already. So is fine.

Adding them to Box would make filling the grid even more difficult, so for just that very selfish reason I'd say no.

Just to further things:

There is a not insignificant chance that Cyanide, having dropped Khorne for BB2, end up dropping Bretonnians as well in their next release should they strive for compliance with the new rules that GW now curate. This would place things into even more confusing light.

Playing vs brets/khorne in B/R doesn't prepare you for facing them in TT tourneys really - you'll see skills/stats/stacks/inducements you'd never see on tabletop. It's a completely different environment. The opportunity to play with exactly the same rules/situation is possible in L and test mode where both have been available for years.
Posted by koadah on 2019-10-13 08:41:08
Clearly, TT tournament prep is best done in the League division. But Khorne & Brets will also appear in TT leagues.

I do think that the rigid approach of keeping them out of R & B probably does deter some people from coming to Fumbbl. But I guess, that is how many people like it. ;)
It probably does contribute to Fumbbl's reputation.

Both teams don't match the fluff properly, blame the designers, not FUMBBL's rigid approach.
