Prayer Request
My wife just called to tell me our home was broken into. All she can see missing so far is the camera (they seem to have opened drawers and not taken my sterling silver pocket watch from on top of the dresser, either morons or scared by the monogram....) I'm going to head home and see if they got my golf clubs from the garage....

Doesn't seem too bad so far, but my wife has had a home invasion while she was home alone, in the past, and is rattled.

Thanks in advance for prayers (or well-wishes from atheists)

Mac

praying for material goods?
Posted by Meech on 2011-01-26 02:27:19
I think you had prayers answered that no one was home or your wife didn't catch them in the act.

I am glad only things got taken, and next time leave notes on your computer saying "Pick up unattended cash" and leave Shadow46x2's address.

yo this is ur sky wizard speaking, gonna assure this wont happen again pz yo (pz mail studman a natty light)

Glad no one was hurt. My prayers go out to you and your wife.

thievery sucks. hope some evidence is found to find them.

in the meantime, God speed to you and your family.

Well wishes. When I was looking into moving to Manitoba, whenever I'd check the news, all I would see were crime stories. Sad to hear you were one of the victims. I'll gladly Pile On the culprit. ;)

But honestly, isn't there other exciting stuff to report on in Manitoba? Any recommendations for when I come down to Winnipeg for some R & R?
Posted by Macavity on 2011-01-26 03:11:03
Well, it definitely could have been worse. After assessment, we seem to be down 1 camera, 1 mp3, 1 bite of rotting chicken from the fridge (saran wrap apparently likely candidate for finger prints) and damage to the door the gained entry by.

To clarify for Studman, the prayers would be for my wife's emotional state. It really was probably as 'good' as such a thing can be, with minimal damage and cost, and no injury.

........ And the spare keys. I hope our insurance covers lock replacement.... :(
Posted by Prinz on 2011-01-26 03:38:15
Well wishes from an agnostic.
Posted by spinball on 2011-01-26 04:33:39
I hope you and yours are going to be okay after this...

Considering the odd things that were taken, I would keep an eye on anything suspicious leading to Identity Theft. It might be what they were after.

chicken will also have DNA where bitten.

did they break into the house? paint transfer from door/window to crowbar can also happen. if not, who else has a key?

Police arrived yet?
Posted by Arktoris on 2011-01-26 05:33:19
oh, and about that DNA on the chicken

has this database become a reality yet?

Rotting chicken? Here is praying they get food poisoning Mac glad to hear no one was hurt...
Posted by paulhicks on 2011-01-26 06:40:30
studbro, whatever your opinion on material goods it sucks when someone breaks into your house because it destroys your feelings of saftey. it must suck even more not to be there when the missus is in a state.
if you cant offer prayers or good wishes maybe you could just try not making sarcastic comments when something crap happens to someone else?!?

best wishes mac
Posted by studmandudebro on 2011-01-26 07:00:48
praying to a god for material possessions is mind breaking sorry especially when thats what caused the initial break in in the first place
Posted by studmandudebro on 2011-01-26 07:02:53
and if your praying that another break in doesnt happen your stupid instead look into buying a more secure locking mechanisms /security system/ gun / guard dog depending on what laws and what you feel comfortable with
Posted by paulhicks on 2011-01-26 07:03:37
Mac wasnt asking you to pray for his camera, he was asking us to send best wishes/ pray for the upset caused to his wife. If ou're not capable of typing "best wishes" when someone is suffering then maybe it would have been easier not to type at all.
Posted by studmandudebro on 2011-01-26 07:05:17
maybe good feelings and prayers dont solve problems
Posted by paulhicks on 2011-01-26 07:08:35
ok so someone is upset because something crap happened to someone they love and all you can do is offer up sarcastic comments?
he wasn't asking for a solution to his problems.
seriously why did you even bother posting?
Posted by paulhicks on 2011-01-26 07:09:25
oh and your right.. they don't solve problems.. but they might have made mac feel a tiny bit better
Posted by studmandudebro on 2011-01-26 07:12:37
a bloo bloo best wishes mac !! happy birthday!!

Actually thats a very valid fear his wife has because it is very likely the house WILL be robbed again statistically.

and instead of goofy prayers that literally do nothing perhaps posting some advice is a good idea goobers
Posted by paulhicks on 2011-01-26 07:14:04
yes.. youre first 2 posts were just full of wonderfull advice... grats kid. your a real helper
Posted by studmandudebro on 2011-01-26 07:14:30

Please paul, don't feed the troll.
Posted by Grod on 2011-01-26 09:53:23
Sounds like either kids or a drug addict. Either way it is not so much what was taken, as the violation of your feeling of security at home I guess. Wish you both well and hope things get back to normal for you soon.
Posted by Mr_Foulscumm on 2011-01-26 11:01:31
I forgot to take the watch?!? :(
Posted by Hitonagashi on 2011-01-26 11:20:33
Hope your wife feels safer soon Mac. No bloodbowl for you until she feels better!
Posted by PurpleChest on 2011-01-26 12:37:21
Best wishes that you and yours can find peace of mind. i have knwn even low value break ins force people to move.

As to the stuff, well it is just stuff. My prescription reads '3x Cuddles to be taken daily, and a new alarm system for peace of mind'
Posted by WhatBall on 2011-01-26 16:06:47
My prayers are with your family for a safe outcome.
Posted by Macavity on 2011-01-26 16:17:34
Ok, final outcome (I hope): Wife's 9 year old laptop taken as well. Lots of her writing on it, so that's a pain. Locks being changed today.

Thanks for the wishes and advice attempts. :)

The police may try DNA (we were surprised it was an option for this type of thing) with the chicken, and expect good prints off the saran wrap.

I did not lock the dead-bolt on our back door, just the handle and it was kicked in (no crowbar paint).

Studman, unless you are a cop in Canada, I'm guessing that my degree in studying our justice system has me more aware of statistical likelihoods than you.

I'm more annoyed that someone upset my wife, than bothered by what happened, clearly not a pro of any type, or the exposed jewellery at least would have been gone as well.

As to the identity theft angle.... Well, if it was a TV show, I would say that there was a motive other than money for the crime. In our case, I'm guessing "thrill" or "prove I stole something to buddies/prospective gang" are more likely than Identity left, as no papers were moved in any way, and no real effort to take my (clunkier) computer was made.

Thanks again for both prayers and well wishes!
Posted by Ancre on 2011-01-26 18:01:38
Ouch, not fun news in any ways. :( Take care of yourself and your wife Macavity ! You have my prayers as well, even if this is almost over it seems :)
Posted by pythrr on 2011-01-26 19:29:04
:( sorry to hear this Mac.

Property crimes, despite what the whiney liberals will tell you, ARE NOT victimless. Fricking crackheads nicking your stuff - no one needs that,
Posted by paulhicks on 2011-01-26 22:36:50
hey!! pythrr im a whiney liberal and id never claim property crime is victimless :)

Posted by MrFoxTalbot on 2011-01-27 23:42:15
I hope it doesn´t happen again. Best vibes and wishes.
Posted by Gran on 2011-01-28 01:15:54
It's not so much the loss of valuable items as the pointlessness that gets me when these things happen. Wishing you all well and hoping that you will "recover" your home for yourselves asap. /Gran

That blows, Mac. My neighbors house just got broke into the other month (through the back... while I was across the street, no less). It's not so much the things that are taken, but the feeling of having your personal space invaded. Be there for your wife... that's about all you can do, and eventually it will be enough.

I'll pray that you and your wife find peace, while I pray that studbro finds a Natty Light. Happiness all around, eh?
Posted by avien on 2011-01-28 08:42:25
Had a prayer for you and your wife. By saying here, as an added bonus, I even made studbro feel more clever than me. So I guess I did two good deeds already and I'm not even out of bed =)
Posted by Gromrilram on 2011-02-02 06:13:13
so.... your home is broken into. your wife is rattled... and before heading home you write that on fumbbl?

really... i wish you and your wife all well... but get your priorities right.
