Wishing for Wargs
So, apparently we are getting that most not-asked-for geek game: Lord of the Rings HeroClix! Yeah... despite the weather, I double-checked to see if it was April 1st. It's not.
The good: New Warg miniatures existing in the world. I want some that don't look like Jackson's hyenas. Hopes are not high, but who knows?
The bad: Heroclix is notorious for invalidating sets and over-powering each new release, so if this somehow plays as a decent game, it will likely be ruined anyway.
The Ugly: It is fully compatible with the other ranges. Whether or not this means spiders will entangle, or Gollum will have super-senses I don't know. It does mean that Pippin can now stab Batman.

I played Mage Knight way back when it first came out, before the whole line was called 'HeroClix' and I enjoyed it. Until about the 3rd or 4th expansion. Then as you say, each new set began over-powering the previous sets. I had a friend who played Marvel Clix and Battletech:Dark Ages, so I got to see the figures and read the rules. I'm glad I never bothered playing. Knowing that LotR is coming out in HeroClix makes me sad. Kinda like when I think about episodes 1-3 now (and I don't even need to name the franchise cause nearly everyone knows what I'm talking about). The idea sounded so great at the time, but now I realize what a horrible failure it was. And how great it could have been....

Yeah, at least with superheroes you expect everyone to be different. With Hobbits, what can you do? Only way to give it any hope is a LOT of monsters (rather than endless orcs). Still don't see it working, though.

Yeah I understand that Pippin stabbing Batman is a problem but imagine Hulk or Superman against Gandalf! So many questions will be finally answered.

Well, Hulk could maybe take him, but Superman is toast where magic is concerned!
The match ups are already nuts, with Batman hitting as hard as Spiderman, and whatnot. I can see the whole Thorin troop with one minor stat difference each. Bombur is a bit slower! Cause he's fat! UNIQUE!!
