A weekend with PainState
Well here is what a weekend with PainState looks like when you come party with him for a guys weekend at a lake house playing games.
Game schedule
Friday when we arrive we will throw down on some Risk 2210: the best Risk game ever made
Then right after that we will pull out and set up the WarHammer quest mega board. My friend got on kickstarter the 3d dungeon rooms that can be used for quest. We will play one or two adventures before we crash out.
Saturday: During breakfast we are going to play Settlers of Cattan.
The rest of the day until around 4AM we will be playing WarHammer quest.
Sunday: It is our tradition to pull out a old game in our collection. This time we decided we are going to play GW Rogue Trooper circa: 1985 boardgame.
The menu
The grill will be on for 48 hours straight.
We will be having 5 2inch cut T-Bone porter house steaks...coming in just at 2LB each for dinner on Friday.
Saturday for lunch and all day snacks: Deer sausage, Boar sausage some hamburgers and hot dogs. On the side some stuffed bacon wraped jalapeno peppers.
For dinner we will have 5 2 inch cut Bone in Rib Eye steaks with 1LB bakers potatoes slow cooked all day on the grill.
Sunday morning...any leftovers still lingering around.
The Beer
For this trip we will have a full sized keg of Lone Star Bock..the best Bock beer in the state of Texas and probally the entire continent of North America.
So 4 of my best gaming buddies and I have wiggled out of husband commitments for a weekend and off we go to get drunk, play games solid for 48 hours and eat like gluttons.
I highly recommend all gamers need to embrace this idea and convince your wife or girlfriend to get on board and let you off the chain for a weekend with your gaming buddies.

Do yourself and your group a favour, and never look back. I should point out Agricola is a tactical, next to luckless worker mechanic. If you like a bit of dice or luck, probably not for you. For those of us that crave strategy, however, it's board game crack.

I'd also point out myself and Mubo came very close to skipping out the last round of a Saturday TT tournament so we could get some hot Agricola action going.

This idea sounds awesome! I've heard good things about Agricola but havent' tried it. I can recommend Puerto Rico. But don't call the colonists or settlers, they are slaves.

Iam looking forward to my Rogue Trooper finding out who the traitor was and taking him down CPOMB style with grenades and so forth.
Can my Level 5 Witch Hunter survive the weekend of 8 quest? Will he die in some Sigmar forsaken dungeon under the old world?
Will that stupid wizard roll the obligatory 1 once we are ready to finally clear out the objective room?

On occasion we play the new Talisman Fantasy Flight edition which streamlines it a little and makes it faster.
I have the old 1ED and expansion and love the game BUT once you hit 4+ players that game could take 6+ hours to play.

For older gamer's like myself I love Fantasy Flight Games because they are bringing back the old GW board games from the 80's. Those old GW board games were a staple for me in high School.

tigris and euphrates is only for 4 players, but it is one of the best board games I have played with my friends.
Might seem simple mechanics, but need more thinking and thinking though.

Nice one - think it is 2 years ago we managed to meet up for board-gaming, eating and drinking last. Game then was Game of Thrones, 1. ed. Fun, but not that balanced.

Oh btw I did something similar last weekend but we were close to 100 gamers on a hostel built into a castle (like, a real castle from the 12th century) and sadly we didn't have any T-Bone-Steaks. We did have large quantities of beer and liquor though. ;) My list of table top games included:
Card game: Blood Bowl Team Manager, yay! (first time)
Role-playing games: Danger Zone, Dread, Dust Devils, Forsooth! (I'm so indie^^)

I've never played Risk 2210. Got old Risk, new Risk, StarWars Risk (which is a bit sucky), LotR Risk (which is awesome) but never played, or even heard of 2210.
Been meaning to pick up Agricola for a while but my last 3 board game purchases were Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride Europe, Zombicide. It's getting close though :)
I have all of the new Talisman but it gets a bit unwieldy so we rarely use it all together. We have played with over 12 players. That takes HOURS and still no-one is close to winning.
The weekend sounds epic. Steak and games. Geek paradise.

I'll chime in on Agricola. It's a really good game (perhaps not very fun the first time but you'll want to play again right away to try and do better next time).

For me, it's Caylus. Similar mechanic to Agricola (no luck, worker distrubution resource management). However, it doesn't have the 'only-one-way-to-win' problem Agricola has (family expansion) and it handles the turn sequence better (by only changing the position of the player who pays for it, leaving the rest in their respective orders).
