Hi all,
I know many people here explicitly don't want to hear about anything from the Cyanide corner (if that's you, you can stop reading now), which is why I usually don't advertise my stream here unless it's specifically fumbbl games (and even then I only announce the HUBBA ones to the HUBBA PM thread).
I also know there's more exciting stuff going on, like a new round of XFLs, soccer, Spike!, and most importantly, secret league!
However, I imagine there are still some people here who
love the game of blood bowl first, and the place(s) where they play it second (if that's you, please keep reading). Some of you might just enjoy watching a huge stakes online BB game with "expert" commentary. So for those guys: the Blood Bowl 2 world cup is now drawing to a close, with the semifinals having recently been played. While the signups featured mostly dwarves, and second dark elves, the final 4 were dwarves vs skaven and lizards vs orcs. The
battle for the bronze will be broadcast live (twitch link) by FocusHomeInteractive on Monday June 27th, and the finals on Wednesday June 29th (both at 19.00 bbtime).
Last Monday we had both the semifinals (partially overlapping). The semifinalists were Knockoff (dwarves) vs Mallak (skaven), and Guinness (lizardman) vs Spartako (orcs). Interestingly, Guinness only started playing blood bowl when BB2 came out, whereas Spartako has the #2 NAF ranking (with wood elves). The dwarves vs skaven match was cast with commentary by 5 casters including myself. Are you at all curious to see the level of blood bowl play that earned 4 coaches at least $1000 (that's the #4 prize) and will earn one of them $4500 + an ASUS gaming PC (that's the #1 prize)? Then you can already have a look at this
youtube playlist of the semifinal matches. I will be uploading the bronze fight and the finals to youtube as well.
Spoiler:
this picture shows all matchups in the WC main event, including who the finalists will be. Obviously, the two semifinal coaches who are not in the finals will play for the bronze Monday.
The semifinal already had 600 live viewers, and the finals will likely have many more. I have to admit that I'm pretty nervous about commentating in front of such a huge crowd. Having some fumbblers who actually know what they're doing will no doubt make me even more so. ;)
Interestingly, the world cup main event started off as a 64 coach knockout tournament (15 tickets awarded via open ladder, 49 awarded through private league tournaments), with new TV1000 teams, and full progression. The last 4 matchups (2x semi, bronze, and finals) are all best of 3; again, with full progression (hence the very many dwarves).
