NBFL Draft Grade Roundtable #5: AFC East
NBFL AFC East Draft Grading Roundtable

Meame Phrophins
Slann, Tzalaran
Last Season: 0-4-3 (joined midseason).
Assets: Kroxigor, 2 Blitzers, a Catcher, some Linemen.
Needs: 2 Blitzers, Catcher.
Draft Capital: 1, 33; Comp 2.1.
#1 Trey SayOw! [KAR], Blitzer. +ST, +AG, Tackle, +ST, 52 SPP.
#33 Wolfman Jack [CONN], Lineman.Wrestle, +AV, Fend, 35 SPP.
#C2.1 Klokworkk [KAR] [SEA], Lineman. Mighty Blow, Guard, +MA, Block, 57 SPP.
GPA: 2.54
* ArrestedDevelopment: B-
I actually don't like the no1 overall pick. This will amaze and astound several, but he's a project player on a team who desperately needed instant studs, and comes with a skillset that means he will be taking the most basic skills for his position - wrestle/block & dodge, at superstar and legend, 24/124 spp. Lino at 33 is very questionable with much better left on the board. Comp draft pick is solid. If SayOw can get to legend, upgrade this one to a B+, but right now it's reaching and feels like another pick that went no1 overall due to expectation more than consideration.
* Arcayn: C
Project player picked at #1 overall is not a great move for this franchise. Personally I think they should have at least explored trading down just a couple of spots and picking up an additional early 2nd as I think there were better fits that would have been available in the 2-5 range, but think they felt obligated to take this stat freak. 2nd Rounder was not BPA.
* Kzarik: B-
I like drafting for potential when the potential is big enough so TreyOh with the first overall makes sense. There was a Blodgestepper out there for Blitzer when the linefrog was selected. I probably would have selected either the Block/+AG guy as a catcher or Landon A Completion instead of the comp pick, but he's not horrible.
* Dashergeaux: B
Hard to mess up the #1 overall. Two solid players that'll contribute right away. I think a lineman at 33 could have been an upgrade at catcher, but that pick is and probably was always going to be a backup.
* ex-convict: B+
Both Trey and Klokworkk will help the team significantly next season, though I feel that Wolfman may have not been the best player available at #33. Excited to see what the Slann can do after being a mid-season sub.
* Jeffro:
Hard to screw up the first pick in the draft... unless you put them 20 points away from getting Block. Uffda!

Buffaelo Khills (NEW!)
Khorne, Jeffro
Last Season: 5-4-5 (with Khemri, in Cleveland, season 22).
Needs: Bloodthirster, 4 Bloodletters, 2 Heralds, Pit Fighters.
Draft Capital: 15, 47; Comp 1.6, 2.4, 3.2.
Trades: #15 traded down twice to #30 to acquire #55 and #62; #C 2.4 traded for #2.7 and #3.5.
#30 Silver Bullett [NEV], Bloodletter. Mighty Blow, Block, Tackle, Guard., 51 SPP.
#47 Rod “the Financial Assassin” Blagojevich [PEP], Lineman. Dodge, [Skill], 23 SPP.
#55 Blake “the Snake” Gregory II [UDUB], Bloodletter. Sure Hands, Guard, [Skill], 31 SPP.
#62 Daylon Mack [EnM], Herald. Guard, Stand Firm, 16 SPP.
#C1.6 Mark’em For Hunt [DET], Bloodthirster. Stand Firm, Guard, Block, Break Tackle, 51 SPP.
#C2.7 Landon A. Completion [ROL] [DET], Bloodletter. Fend, Guard, Mighty Blow, Stand Firm, [skill], 83 SPP.
#C3.2 Beyond the Veil [NEV] [DET], Herald. Block, Guard, Dirty Player, Stand Firm, 74 SPP.
#C3.5 Mark Nzeocha [DAL], Pit Fighter. Guard, Mighty Blow, 26 SPP.
GPA: 3.20
* ArrestedDevelopment: B+
I like this strategy, and especially for this team. Khorne need every positional covered, and the front office clearly had a plan - "get guard". By the time we reach the last set of picks BUF had the board was dry, but it's hard to really see them getting more value out of their initial spots.
* Arcayn: A
I love the moves. The team now has a strong Core and lots of Guard to help make the feeding frenzy easier.
* Kzarik: B
Selecting a bunch of guard to go with frenzy makes sense for the team. With the trading down, you get lesser skilled players on average. Did find a super star or two, we'll see if volume drafting works out for new teams.
* Dashergeaux: C
I like the idea of trading down to get depth on a new team, but without a stud this league is brutal. I think one trade too many. Those last 3 picks aren't much better than rookies, but rooting for Jeffro to prove me wrong.
* ex-convict: A-
Most expansion teams start with five draftees; Jeffro will be starting his with eight after some shrewd draft maneuvering. I don't like the Bloodthirster not having mighty blow until 76 (it starts with Claw), and a few of the players will need time to get block. But acquiring seven guard players for a block-focused race could be huge; blood for the Blood God!!
* Jeffro:
Geez. Who this hell does this guy think he is? Were there even that many draft picks?! This reeks of either mad genius or authentic wacko and any sane person really has to lean the wacko route.

New York Wrecks
Chaos, Robocoyote
Last Season: 7-5-2. Playoffs: #2 seed, 0-1.
Assets: 3 Warriors, a fair Minotaur, a couple freak Beastmen.
Needs: Warrior, Beastman.
Draft Capital: 26, 58.
#26 Colin “Munchkin” Joy [BK], Beastman. Block, +MA, Dodge, Tackle, 54 SPP.
#58 Rest In Peace [NV], Beastman. Block, Dodge, 29 SPP.
GPA: 2.20
* ArrestedDevelopment: C-
Not a fan of either pick really in terms of what they add to the team. At least both bring reasonable skills and nothing insane.
* Arcayn: C-
Not drafting a warrior is a bad move IMO. In both spots, I feel they could have drafted a Warrior of equal quality of the Beastman they drafted that would have supplied more of an impact.
* Kzarik: C+
Sticking to getting blodgers to spread out opponent tackle, this actually may not have been what Robocoyote really wanted to do here. A Blodge/MB/T warrior went off the board to Manglesota the pick before and the strength pool was getting pretty slim by his first pick.
* Dashergeaux: C
The team had enough blodge and ball options. Another beastman hitter would have been nice.
* ex-convict: B+
Two solid players that continue the robo GM tradition of targeting blodgers.
* Jeffro:
Rivals the boring draft of Dashergeaux... without actually filling a pressing need. Bravo.

Olde Reikland Paid Rioters
Human, JackassRampant
Last Season: 6-4-4. Playoffs: #6 seed, 2-1.
Assets: 3 Blitzers, backup Thrower, some Linemen.
Needs: Ogre, Blitzer, Thrower, Catcher.
Draft Capital: 29, 61.
Trades: #29 and #61 traded up to get #17.
#17 Dwayne Haskins [BRO], Thrower. Accurate, +AG, +AG, 36 SPP.
GPA: 2.40
* ArrestedDevelopment: B-
The head office reach up and snatch the last double AG on the board. He's a stud thrower, but we suspect that's just going to be a secondary option to the Rioters, who will utilise his ability to bob and weave on long drives. Might have done better to pick two players, might have had nothing to pick with two.
* Arcayn: C+
Great player. Wrong Coach/Team. This player's talents will go to waste on this team. This team would have likely gotten more bang for the buck by staying put and drafting 2 players.
* Kzarik: C-
If this wasn't JR's pick, I'd be inclined to rate it higher. It's like pulling freight with a Ferrari.
* Dashergeaux: C
This team looks like it could have used 2 players. Trading up to get a stud is great, but who's he's going to throw it to?
* ex-convict: B+
A bold trade up for the last double +AG player left, though it will be interesting to see how a traditionally run-oriented coach uses him.
* Jeffro:
Exactly zero people have confidence that JR is going to know how to use the player for which he sold out his draft. Exactly everybody thinks Dwayne gets fitted for a pine box before he's fully realized.

For the record, we wuz wobbed. I didn't have a spot for a draftee lino, so it was either trade up or pick a player I'm not keen on. I got the 3rd player on my board with the 29th and 4th-from-last picks, I'm elated, and my rivals should be very concerned!
