SESSION SEVEN (GAME ONE - NOT WON!!)
FINALLY!! I HAD MY FIRST GAME! :D

Before I get into the details, I wanted to extend [another] THANK YOU!! To all of the folks that have commented on my FUMBBL blog, and all the helpful information & opinions; additionally, I really appreciate the warm welcome I have received thus far. You all make FUMBBL a very awesome community.

Now… for the bloody details.

I will say -up front- that I had a great time; it was a lot of fun!

Now... who played against me my first game? Who was patient enough for my 193 minute turns? ...[drum roll] Macavity!

Special thanks to Macavity for his patience and mentoring for my first game. I had no idea what a legend this fella is... having other team's players named after him, his victories & strategies, and -especially- his "Macavity Mangling Union" challenge! I don't think I'll be applying for my first (of 3 chances) MMU game just yet. The date for my first MMU game is projected at -roughly- 2034. :P

Macavity was the winner with 2 scores to my 1, but he could have devastated me if he wanted to; he’s a real class act. He is a great teacher and I would encourage (mature… emphasis on MATURE) FUMBBL newbs to seek him out, or -at the very least- read some of his blog/comments/info/etc.

I have identified my first hurdle with BB, and that is – sequence of moves. I struggle with remembering (and knowing) which moves are 'one die' and that I need to save those for last. I imagine that will get easier/better over time, but this is my focus for now until I get it down.

What came naturally to me (besides losing), you may ask? Fouling!! My Orcs fouled Mac's Rats 3 times during the game. The first was successful - the ref missed it. The second foul I did - the player was caught, but I had a bribe for the ref and the ref looked the other way. I received “the bribe money” from a kick-off reward!! The third foul… uh – epic failure. The player was caught and ejected out of the game. Not bad, me thinks.

I will continue to play when I can.

Does anyone know if there is a “computer opponent”?

That way I could at least practice the sequence of moves when I cannot find a game.

Cheers! :D

congrats on the first game ! You won a lot of money (buy an apothecary). You'll get better with time, I believe I haven't scored my first TD before my ninth match, so you're already doing better than me ;)

Congrats on the first game, glad to hear you had fun. Quick note on Grod Bot; you can't use it in the FFB client. You could play a game against yourself if you really wanted to; create a second team, and then open both, and create a game called "test:whatevergamenameis", join it with both teams. It won't be uploaded to fumbll, no one can spectate it, and you can control dice rolls, give players skills (temporarily) and play against yourself. Normally used for confirming the bug reports, you can also use it to experiment with your "plays".

Thanks everyone! :D

@ Ancre:
Bought the apothecary. I think I scored my first TD ONLY because Macavity was coaching me along.

@ Enigma179:
I did fire up the FUMBBL/BB client last night and there were already two teams in there - Reikland Raiders (human) and -I think it was called- Gouged Eye (Orcs). So I just played against myself to practice turn sequence, setting up assists, etc.

Is this the same as Grod Bot? I'm thinking it may not be, so I would like to learn how to build teams, upload them, and play against myself so I could get a feel for how other races play - that would be really cool!
