My Joy of Play
Dear fellow coaches!

Recently I came back to FUMBBL after some major changes in my theories of life. I realized I want to live an impeccable life as a free person, like a Warrior in the world of Don Juan. But that is for another blog post... Let be enough now that this made me to change my nick to my real life name and add a portrait to my pofile. FUMBBL is the only social site I was ever part of.

To get back to the world of BloodBowl. In a former post I spelled out some rules of my future behavior and playstyle. I violated one of them in my FC match though. My time was up and I handoffed the ball after that and scored afterwards. In my last turn however I had the strength to not make a final gaze action with my Vampire after I runned out of my time again. That gaze could easily result an overtime for my team and a chance to progress. I wish good luck to Ftaghn on the tourney! With this, he deserved that victory.

I was making a team of every race in Blackbox. I will always activate all of them simultaneously. Before that I found the box boring and too competitive. Now with all team on the line, it became very funny and I really enjoying to play the box this way.

I made League teams and joined to WCS, OWCC and to a tourney with my fellow Hungarians. I almost never played League before, except for a dead Hungarian tourney and WIL, from which I quitted without a word. I am very ashamed because of that, sorry guys! Now I am really enjoying to play in League! I also started infBOWL for which I receive positive feedbacks. Thanks guys!

In paralell I almost stopped to play Ranked. The success in Ranked is only the matter of choosing the opponents. I have an all-zombie team with a positive ratio to prove that. I decided to stop playing that team after it reaches 250 matches, and I was thinking about the same with my vamps and 200 matches. I was playing FC with my vamps however and decided to keep them for ranked tournaments. Outside those I will only play one or two preparation matches when it is very necessary. I also retired one of my top10 player. Well, I replaced him to a Vampire. In the past I would surely pushed him until he dies on the pitch. Now however that his team became a tourney team, this change was obvious.

My last two games (1., 2.) were extraordinary, because they made me to spell out another rule for myself:
I won't stall anymore. BB is more fun without stalling I had to realize. I hope that even if I fail to keep this rule sometimes, I will learn to keep it soon.

If you managed to read down to here, thanks and kudos!

Ádám

EDIT1: I cut a sentence since I don't want my words to sound like I want to push anyone else to avoid stalling.

Great read, great ambitions. You sound like you'll stick with it and learn what might bes missing. Kudos!

What was your previous FUMBBL name?

Good post though not sure you need to adhere to the time limit like that. The timeout is there as the option for your opponent, let them do it if that's how they wish to enforce play. Noble as it is to time yourself out, it's kinda like fining yourself if you return a hire car 5 minutes late when they're not bothered.

You seem to me like a good guy with a great sense of the fun of the game. I think we're all glad to have you as a member of the community!

Excellent series of books by Casteneda. Though stating purely that you will not stall anymore goes against the idea of having your assemblage point moveable. The rabbit following his same path over and over again will be easily hunted, my good sir. Be free. Stalling, along with fouling, are options in the game and everything has its place.

Keep on with having fun, though :)

Was tempted to rate it 1 for your intentions to stop playing the Slowwalkers. Couldn't do it.....

always nice to see people come back. Nice also to see you free yourself of the expectations of others and choose to game in a way that will make you happy. this is a good thing.

All i would caution is not to fall into the similar trap of imposing/expecting your gaming morality to impact at all on others. Be free to be you, but let others be themselves too.

Back in 2004 I would never stall against an opponent, as with you it violated a personal rule of mine to not play like a boring loser. I was a staunch advocate of the 'role-playing' aspect of blood bowl that once existed.

Now after taking years off and returning to fumbbl I see things differently. Blood bowl has evolved a lot and I learned to accept that stalling is just part of the game now. I often try to play unfair matches against better teams just to decrease the boredom factor now.

@Chainsaw: RamonSalazar. Not nobleism which drives me in this but to make myself learn to control the time of my turn.

@Cloggy: Well, I am not 100% sure in this. In the remaining 22 matches I won't fire all skilled, I give them blocks and guards instead. Who knows, maybe I find some new challenge for them. :) Anyway, they will be there for me to play them anytime.

@Jeffro: I don't think this is anything to do with my assemblage point. I just walk the path of my heart in this.

@PC: Thanks for your point. I was not intended to make others do as I do. Everyone is free to choose his style.

@paraddocks: Well, stalling for me does not mean I can't delay my drive. I just won't stay with my BC for turns long next to the endzone, thats all.
