Tatoos
Ok, I think there are many generation gaps between Gen X & Millenials.

The one I find repulsive: Tatoos.

Sure they think it's ok to wear skinny pants for dudes & dress like homeless people.

Sure they don't understand working for a living.

But... Becoming a living doodle-pad? Seriously?

These half-a-tards put tattoos on their skin. I'm pretty sure they had mothers. Mine would have beat that idea out of me, had I suggested such a thing.

I'm not saying it was bad that you had a cool vacation in Cancun and got one. I'm talking about the idiots that put them on their face, or cover themselves.

A shining example is my lovely wife. She constantly talks about getting more tattoos. I tell her: Honey, I don't want to F*ck a doodle pad. Don't. She has two tiny ones, well hidden, but wants more.

So my message to you young whipper-snappers: Tattoos make you ugly.

Please stop. It's ugly & repulsive.

Regardless of your personal opinion on the aesthetic of tattoos in general and the aesthetic of specific individual's specific tattoos, I would have to say that it doesn't really matter whether you think it's ugly and repulsive to you.

Because frankly, it's their life and their body.

Totally agree with Calthor. What people do with their body is their business. And who the hell are you to tell me or other people how to live our lives?

Not sure this website is the place for such xenophobic views either.

Aren't you just some old geezer with outdated and often irritating ideas rambling on about the youth.
Posted by Uedder on 2016-09-04 14:32:30
Agreed.
I mean, to each his/her own, but getting something perpetual on your body, for a trend, it's pretty lame imo. And your whole body... that's compulsive. What if you change your mind? What if you don't like them tatoos anymore? What if you want to see your own face?

But yeah it's their own body so who cares?

But, to be honest, it's not about millennials. There were these things in the 80's and the 90's as well.

Hate to break it to you Bill, but tattoos went mainstream in the 90's.
So you need to play the generation that were in their teens or 20's then not those that age now.

If you're going to get one, just get it done by a professional. A couple people here in Canada have had to have limbs amputated recently after botching the job at home. I also saw an exhibition about tats at the Royal Ontario Museum with a jury-rigged Russian prison tattoo gun made out of a Bic pen. The pain from that thing will put some hair, and possibly some flesh-eating bacteria, on your chest.

I have a Tattoo and Im a Gen X'er. Actually where I am, I have the least amount off Tattoos compared to my friends, and Family. Then again, i am from the Pacific North West, and we were into Nirvana a bit more than the rest of you. Tattoos are an expression of ones Story, or at least the story they want to provide to others.

My Little Millennial, has 2 Tattoos, against my better judgment. Album Covers, and Cock-A-Doodle sort of stuff. I have a Tattoo to commemorate him being born.

WHat?!?! Tattoos on girls are hot! Your wife should go ahead, get a few more tattoos and come visit! ;-)

Seriously though, I am with you on the facial and neck tattoos - unless you are an artist or musician they really have no business (pun) in the workplace. I myself have 7 tattoos all of which can be covered up because I do work as a business professional.

the worse ones are when they tattoo a quote or a few sentences on their arms, ribs, etc

I work with a guy with his last name in 3 inch tall letters on the entire inside of his upper arm...

Some of you read what you wanted to read.

I'll say it again: I have no problem with a tattoo.

I have a problem with covering your whole body (sleeves & such) or your neck & face.

Who am I to judge? Fair question. A human being.

I judge the creepy book by it's creepy cover. My kids won't get into your van without windows, because I taught them better.

I have no problem with one or even a few reasonable tattoos. I have a problem with going overboard. If you need that many, I attribute (for right or wrong) with you being starved for attention. Maybe daddy should have thrown the ball with you or otherwise paid some attention to you in your developmental years.

I think army tattoos have a place.

Having your Unit as a tattoo along with everyone else in the Unit is an empowering symbol, especially for those who were involved in combat.

Beyond that, I think they are a bit weird, but each to their own.

I'm gonna give myself a full-body tattoo burka!
