The darkness is so thick they barely can see each other. A foul smelling wind blows black dust in their faces as they proceed on a lonely, gloomy road surrounded by nothing but dead trees, stones and puddles of dirty water. The rotters are carrying the equipment in heavy, big backpacks, followed by the pestigors that slowly mutter between themselves about the game.

"Dwarves" one says. "How I hate them"

The warriors are in the far end of the group, leading Benny by a long piece of chain that closes around his neck like the leash of a freakish, deformed giant dog. Benny is eager for violence. He has been waiting for this for a long time.

Suddenly, Lord Greenfire calls a halt.

"You listen, all of you!" he shouts. "It's tomorrow, and it's not gonna be a fiasco this time. I want that lantern, we need it to go further in this darkness, I will not tolerate failure. Mates, we have been through so many battles, and we're still of one piece. This is our shot, our chance, it's now or never. Whoever is afraid of dorfs can leave now, go away in this very moment or stay and fight"

No one moves. Not even the rotters. In the perpetual night of Ulthuan they look like creepy, stinkng statues frozen on the muddy ground. Lord Greenfire smiles. He has been working so hard for this. He knows now that his companions fear him more than they may fear any opponent. Everyone in the team still remembers the punishment after the failure in the FUMBBL Cup, some of the players still bear the scars.

A rotter lift a hand: "May I speak?"
"You can"
"They have bull centaurs. What about bull centaurs?"
Lord Greenfire picks a stone from the ground, puts it in his mouth and crunches it under his teeth, munching it like a piece of bread.
"You just leave them to me" he says.
Benny starts to laugh, his leash shaking. The group moves along, heading for a stadium that must be lost somewhere in the darkness.
