Skaven in the Box
In case you couldn't tell, I love those ratmen (it's the gutter runners, MA9 is the most fun of any team in my opinion), and I love LRB6 (never really played LRB4 on tabletop or on here tbh), so now that the Black Box will be my sole source of LRB6 goodness, do you reckon it's a good time to get started with it? I probably won't be the best coach there, and playing as skaven in a division known for... y'know, stuff that isn't AV7 and squishy probably won't be as clean cut and pretty as usual, but I believe it could work out; if you look at my teams you'll see a decent amount of those skaven games are played against "bashy" teams (more then half maybe, although I haven't counted), and they've survived alright.
However, the black box is probably filled with teams just designed to kill and maybe get the ball and score every once in a while. And I'm not a basher at heart. So should I sacrifice some skaven to the box, sit tight and wait for ranked/league to come over, or pick up a new race (not orcs) and jump in?

Skaven have been shown to be viable in the box, just don't get attached to the players. As you pointed out, many Box teams are bashy, and are vulnerable to getting outrun.
I suspect that at launch, a lot of even the hardcore Box enthusiasts will be tempted to play the new races, skewing the Box somewhat less bashy (rookie pact are somewhat bashy if frontloaded with the 3 big guys, but not crazy).
If you love skaven, go skaven.

LRB6 to me seems to be less hostile then lrb4 and lrb5. Atleast to av7 and/or stunty teams :). Journeymen is also great.

I think with Journeymen and inducements, squishy teams won't be as bad in the Box, and there should be more of them. Previously in Box you would have ridiculous matches with 3 or 4 players starting a game sometimes. I think FFB will change the complexion of the Box a bit, in my totally uniformed opinion of course. :)

meh. I'm not so much encouraging rat play as I am encouraging playing the race you like. It that happens to be rats, so be it.
If I wanted a team to really beat on, I'd encourage vampire opponents. ;)

Even under LRB4 the Box was never as uniformaly bashy as its reputation would suggest. I think journeymen will make a huge difference too though starting with only 11players is never really desirable.
