Mega-stars and BBT8
With Blackbox Trophy season 7 coming to an end this weekend, it looks like we have a split victory between Malmir and Elyod who both managed to get to a very very strong 59 points. Malmir also has another squad taking the third place for the season.
The end of the season also poses the question what season 8 will look like, and apart from the expected roster tier adjustments, we are also going to be doing a fairly significant change that will apply to not only the Blackbox Trophy but also globally through the C division and all custom leagues using the BB2020 ruleset (id 4):
Mega-stars will no longer be available for hire.
This will take effect at some point during this upcoming weekend, and will impact the tail end of the currently running UI major as well.
Edit: Mega-stars are currently: Bomber Dribblesnot, Deeproot Strongbranch, Griff Oberwald, Hakflem Skuttlespike, Kreek ‘the Verminator’ Rustgouger, and Morg ‘n’ Thorg.
As for the BBT8 tiers, these are the updated tiers (adjusted rosters indicated with an up or down arrow):

mega stars were defined by GW, and the implication was that league commish' (such as Christer) could use it to fine tune their own leagues and tournaments. GW doesn't actually say they should be banned, but by defining these stars, it makes it easy to identify which ones are (broadly) considered problems.

I'm not sure we need rookie team protection beyond what's already in place, It will make the draw harder and I'm not sure it solves much. At least my teams tend not to grow much beyond 1300TV in the 15 games they get.

Deeproot off the board for flings. Yeah, that's awesome news. Not like they don't suck enough now they take their most commonly selected/ effective star away. Good example of how 'one size fits all' doesn't work.

While I agree, making one team a problem is better than making 5-10 teams problems.

@Matt the teams in the match you show both had at least 20 games in. (and yours close to 200). That does not apply to my comment about protection for new teams. Which I thought were protected by setting a max TV gap, which widens as the team develops.
I honestly do not think any of the mega stars would be out of place against a team like the one you used here, since it has had so many games to be perfectly balanced and minmaxed. A 20 game team running into that should have access to all stars imho (I don't say this should be made to happen as I understand it would be really hard to get right - but I do feel Morg would be fine as somewhat of an equalizer here to give the Norse a small chance at least).
