CIBBL Empire Regionals: Pre-Game Rd4 Swan Riders vs Grasparossa B. B. C.
Greetings sports fans,
Last week was not so good for the Swan Riders. Their home game against the vicious Beastmen of the Cerberus Beast was a disaster (lost 2-0). It was not our worst defeat (the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Aethyric Humours remain our worst result), but it was probably our worst game ever with only 5 SPPs. Swan Riders lost very early in the game both their trees and Puggy Baconbreath (in his first appearance with the Swan Riders, but his 5th in CIBBL) and the rest of the game was afterwards a one side show. Coach was happy that at least the team survived. Next game is against the heavy Empire Regional favorites and legendary Human Team Grasparossa B.B.C.. The 2x Empire Champions are going for their 3rd title and they are expected to win this confrontation against the Halflings. But that does not mean that we should exclude a surprise. At least in the past it happened.
Let's check the prehistory of Grasparossa B.B.C. Against Halfling teams.
Grasparossa B.B.C. - Hillshire Culinary College 2-0
Grasparossa B. B. C. - Mootland Defenders 6-0 . Biggest victory ever for the Human Team, as well as the worst defeat for a Halfling team.
Grasparossa B. B. C. - Gipfel Blueleaves 2-0
Grasparossa B. B. C. - Lords of the Harvest 1-1 . Again a legendary result from none other than the so often mentioned Lords of the Harvest. This draw was especially painful for the Humans, since they lost the Championship in that year from the Congregation of Holy Touchdown (Sisters of Sigmar Team) because of TD difference!
In total: 4 G, 3 W for the Humans and only 1 D. A note to end the pre-game report, Grasparossa is probably the team that has the most games played against Halflings.

… who saved the carreer of Karla von Kill? During the Blood Bowl XXXIII (2493/4) Middenheim Marauders won the Championship against their hated rivals Reikland Reavers ending a title drought spanning from 2465 and a series of lost finals (2478, 2484, 2492). Karla von Kill was contracted by the Maraurdes as a desperate last minute replacement of Wilhelm Chaney during the 2486 Middenheim Controversy, which we covered in one of our previous reports. At first, the board of the Marauders was heavily criticized to invest in a woman, talented but also recovering from a serious injury, whose last team was a small Halfling Team in Moot. This team was not other than the Swan Riders under our legendary coach Hansi Misclick! Long story short, Karla after her injury at the hands of a Minotaur become free agent from Hochstadt Hellfires. She was at the edge of retirement, when Hansi gave her the chance to join Swan Riders so that she will take some games to return to the stadion. At that time Swan Riders were running the famous 2 Zoats instead of Treemen build and Hansi needed a reliable Blitzer and Runner for his team. He knew the qualities of Karla and he took the risk to invest on her, when nobody wanted. Karla took the chance and became part of one of the best teams that Swan Riders fielded ever. She did not only fully recuperate, but her stay in the Swan Riders changed fundamentally her playstyle. Before she was one very good support lineman, in the Swan Riders was the leader and the playmaker taking more and more responsibilities. The desperate scouts of Marauders noted that and offered her the first NAF contract soon later that summer. Her departure was the end of the dream team of the Swan Riders, since later both our Zoats and the coach himself, Hansi, lef the team. But Hansi did not remain without job. The collapse of NAF influenced many team, one of them was the Marauders who merged with other teams in Middenheim in order to survive. The reborn Karla was by now the leader and the spirit of the team and the board free from the NAF restrictions started to build a team around her recruiting dwarfs and halflings in their roster. Karla insisted that Hansi should join the team as an assistant coach (Hansi had worked as assistant also before in a top level teams, the Lorelorn Paladins during the 60s), responsible for the Halfling players. Next time you see the ceremony of Blood Bowl XXXIII, check the old Halfling who is falling from the podium. It is Hansi Misclick who “mouse-slipped” his steps, again...
