FUMBBL :: Online Blood Bowl League

Compiled from across FUMBBL, this is all the news that's come to my little furry ears. If you know more that is going on, please let razmus know so he can add it to the next edition, which should be mid-August. Trying to pull in as much of what's going on around FUMBBL so folks can find even more ways not to get all their work done.

The census says that there are 980 distinct, active coaches on FUMBBL who play in leagues. Two numbers are given for the range of the league size, because there isn't a single good indicator. When the numbers are very different - the league may be in flux, have some deadwood teams/coaches in their locker rooms, or be at the start or end of a cycle/season. Numbers very close together should be pretty close to the 'actual' active coach population (whatever that means) for the group.

If you're looking for a league to join, at this time, I'd say these are your best bet to start soon:
Global -- 145 Club (new to blood bowl), CIBBL (experienced coaches, fluff, secret league-like teams)
Oceania -- Southern Wastes League, The Oceania Secret League (secret league)
Europe -- Lega Gladio (Italian), Jupiler & Budweiser League (French), White Isle League (within a couple timezones of the UK), Lega Woli Nuffla (Polish), Nuffle League (randomly generated rosters)
Americas -- NWBL, Nuffle League (randomly generated rosters)
And of course the open environments always have one-shot tournaments going on.

Current status	145 KO Cup, Spectacular Solstice Sprint of Slaughter, and 145 Box Challenge have (experimentally) replaced the fine coffee normally served in the 145 Club. We'll have to see if the patrons notice the difference. See razmus's blog post on the subject for more information.
Next steps	If you're new to FUMBBL or Blood Bowl, jump in at your leisure. The experimental move to sprints rather than Open Round Robins should make it easier for folks to join with minimal wait and make it easier to find worthy opponents.

Current status	Season 2 has a single game left to be played in the Super Premier (top tier) League.

Rules	BB2020 with modified Secret League, and customized BB2016 skill progression. Only one team per roster.
Current status	Year 11, Spring Regionals should be in Round 3, but getting coaches to play is like herding cats.

Current status	Bob Borc Cup(s) (III). Bob Borc Cup III Swiss and Borc3 QPool (Open Round Robin) all going on. (I think I'm meant to be doing a handstand to make sense of it all.)

Current status	Season LXVII (67) is complete. There is a brief break, but season LXVIII will start in August! I believe they're still looking to infuse the league with new coaches, potentially a full division of eight worth of additional coaches. Coaches in that timezone who would like to experience one of the longest lived leagues on FUMBBL, you'd be well served to get in touch with DaCoach.

Open Play Environments

Competitive
Rules	BB2020 - using the latest rules available. Mega-star ban is in effect.
Activity	Very high activity. This is the primary activity on FUMBBL
To play	Make a team from your Coaches page for the Competitive division and put them in Gamefinder, or activate teams in the Black Box (also now within gamefinder) or seek games on the FUMBBL Discord (the last is more popular with people seeking those last few games to fill a grid.)
Activities	Royal Rookie Rumble for new teams. Brawls for any Competitive team. Brackets break at 1400 and 1800. Minors are quiet for the moment. Keep an eye out for the next tournament! Major Tournaments spread out across the year, each with their own requirements and some with qualifier tournaments. Grotty Little Tournament is in the semi-finals!

Activity	Some.
To play	Make a team from the group above (or from your coaches play in the League/Secret League 2020 division) and put them in Gamefinder or seek games on the Secret League Discord
Activities	Old World Rookie Rumble for new teams. Rumbles have been active of late, with new tournaments separated by less than a week. Old World Brawl for any team... and again, while activity is slow, tournaments will still happen. Bracket breaks at 1000, 1300, 1600, and 2000. [SL]2020 Slam are Slam type instant tournaments for groups of four teams. (just needs interested coaches) [SL]2020 Open Sprint allows teams to compete on points earned in open play, leagues, and touranments. Current season runs from 15 June to 31 July. Other tournaments to start when Seasons enabled on FUMBBL.

Active Metagroups
Metagroups play in other open environments, against other teams in the environment which aren't necessarily part of the metagroup, for thier own goals


Season	Season 8: May-Aug 2023
Environment	Competitive (Blackbox Scheduler only)
Synopsis	FUMBBL's only officially supported metagroup. Build one or more squads of four teams, and amass points by winning and tying after randomly matching other teams. One team from each roster will have the opportunity to participate in the Steel Gauntlet, it's own special official [C]ompetitive Division tournament. (See Christer's blog linked above for qualifications, etc.)


Season	XL: July 1-31st
Environment	Any/All
Synopsis	Stunty teams across the FUMBBL-verse attempting to beat, kill and maim everyone else... but mostly kill. Accumulate points for building up the biggest stack of corpses, with dwarves counting double. And of course, being stunties... the bodies accumulated from fouls certainly add to the official tally.


Season	LXXXI: July 1st to August 31st.
Environment	Competitive, Blackbox, and League (BB2020/SL2020).
Synopsis	A reboot of the original E.L.F. group, Elf teams accumulate points for playing (and more for winning) against a variety of different rosters. Additional awards for filling your dance card, and a special award for taking more casualties than anyone else. (Discord Channel.)

	Synopsis	Chaos Renegades teams as Borg collective. Start vanilla and play against other teams... and as you kill your opponent's players, you add their unique biological signature to the Borg. It was challenging under the BB2016 rules, and I suspect it's even harder now.

NBFL is just finishing its draft - every season, players who graduate from NCBB enter the NBFL draft. This season 64 players will be drafted! If you're interested in this kind of college graduates turn pro, NCBB is just starting season 43.
